I’ve seen a lot of discourse lately of “how awful the models been” Anecdotally, I’m sure there are cases where storms were forecast poorly. But is there concrete evidence of a measurable decline in performance? If so, I am not aware and would appreciate data to back this up.

Fantastic documentary, great work constructing a story that felt like a movie with a beautiful, powerfully-climatic narrative. Astonishing audio work as well, it makes full use of the theater sound system And I appreciate the reverence to Tim Samaras throughout the film 🙏🏼
Never Stop Chasing the movie dominates @AMCTheatres across Tornado Alley and the new new Tornado Alley starting August 21! We need your help! You can find showing details at NeverStopChasingFilm.com

Storms this August in Colorado have been slower than the past few years, so I’m here reminiscing about June Especially this storm with a probable dusty tornado, wind damage to 113mph in Akron, hypnotizing structure, and the best thrill I had this summer 6/22/2026 Otis, CO

Akron, CO 5/23/2025 It’s Akron, that pretty much explains it
What’s been the easiest tornado you’ve seen, or one you think was the easiest target/storm chase you’ve had.

2023: May 26 - Encino, NM 2024: May 23 - Eldorado, OK 2025: May 23 - Akron, CO 2026: May 21 - Thurman, CO The 2026 season has been so rough that my best tornado is often labeled “just a funnel”
2023 - Gordon, NE 7/19 2024 - Lincoln, NE 4/26 2025 - Arnett, OK 5/18 2026 - Onslow, IA 4/14

At least it had the best “just a funnel” rope-out that I’ve ever seen (it was definitely a tornado for a bit early on)

2024 Substantial outbreaks widespread across the country, from early January through the last week of December, with photogenic tornadoes most times. The 2nd highest total on record. 2025 was exceptional, but crashed quickly. Last 5 months of year only saw 163 tornadoes-
As a weather / tornado enthusiast, which year do you think was more exceptional / mind-blowing / exciting? 2019, 2024 or 2025?

According to the same NCEI data, 2024 saw 376 tornadoes in that August-December window The 2024 season was astonishing in spatial and temporal distribution, nearly unbeatable in any but the most thoroughly anomalous years

Despite the local fireworks ban, I got some nice explosive energy from storms earlier today Happy 250th to the undisputed severe storm capital of the world 🇺🇸🌪️ #cowx #4thofJuly

Was watching these storms as they began over the house Didn’t think that this time they would pop off this hard, decided to go after them too late 😞 Colorado has had tornadic storms every day this week despite no SPC risk areas lol

While probably not intended, this sort of spotter/chaser questioning from an authority (in this case NWS) fosters misconceptions: mainly, that the condensation funnel has to be full for a tornado to be there. Wrong. Tornadoes commonly happen without full condensation. All condensation (funnel) represents is where pressure has dropped enough to cool the temperature to the dewpoint and condense cloud. A “dry” tornado may still be present under that, capable of killing people and doing damage. NWS mets: let’s not encourage mythology (the bogus idea a tornado needs full condensation) that the science, and our own spotter-training efforts, have spent decades rightly opposing. A better question to ask is this: Are damage, debris or vortices visible at ground?
Replying to @MichaelMarz1
Are there any images of the funnel reaching the ground perhaps?
