Floating bus stops: Good news - Tories pledge to ban ‘dangerous’ floating bus stops. I nominate this floating bus stop on #Chiswick High Road. telegraph.co.uk/gift/9522e95…

The short zebra crossing over the cycle lane is on the far left and a double-decker red bus is at the bus stop, at far right.

This pro-Pal outside the Green Party conference threatened Jewish and Israeli protesters that he’d take his top off and “do every one of you in”. He wasn’t the only man I heard say he would do violence to Jews today. Shameful.

The total cost here is £23,340 without any future maintenance.
The £130 monthly saving means it will cost 15 years to pay back. The life of the HP is 10-15 years and the panels 20. With maintenance they would be lucky to break even.
🔴 UK family achieves zero energy bills with heat pump, solar panels, battery retrofit
Clare Naylor's four-bedroom home in Milton Keynes, built in the 1980s, was retrofitted free by Santander with a heat pump, 17 solar panels, and a garage battery. The setup qualifies for Octopus Energy's "Zero Bills" tariff, which guarantees no charges for heating, lighting, or household devices for five years as long as usage stays within a "fair usage" limit.
• Retrofit cost: just under £20,000 (after government grant); financed at 6.4% over five years = £389/month repayment
• Naylor's previous energy bill: £130/month

Saw some young friends taking it in turns with a balloon in their car earlier in South London. Must be a birthday. Nice to see them celebrating in person, not a phone in sight

The initial reaction from residents of #Chiswick and #Acton to TfL’s publication of the plans for the West London Orbital rail link has not been good. People are worried about the impact the closure of level crossings will have: chiswickcalendar.co.uk/publi…

Him: “We are a nation of lions, aren’t we?”

Interesting. Both the serious cycle injury and the minor pedestrian injury took place at the junction with Dukes Avenue, where no C9 changes are being proposed. So @LBofHounslow are planning to spend more £££ on the basis of 2 slight injuries in 4 years? That doesn't add up.

This is a remarkable story. Hammersnith and @willnorman spent 10s £millions on a bike track through Hammersmith and Hounslow. Last year it became the London Cycling Campaign’s 5th most ‘dangerous junction’. Now Hammersmith is responding to this by closing the side road: Weljte Road. Norman, the London Cycling Campaign and Hammersmith created this problem, because instead of genuinely making our streets safer they want people to have a false sense of security and take up cycling.@ChiswickWheelie

It is all so tiresome.
These guys filmed this and posted it themselves.
Mocking the ticket inspector. Sitting in first class on a UK train. No ticket.
The inspector has no recourse. Cannot do anything about it. Let’s them get away with it.
Everyone buying a ticket is subsidising these pathetic youths.
We need a zero tolerance policy.

🚨 Report a barrier jumper. Get punched in the face.
Clapham Junction, ~5.30pm, 19 August.
A passenger does the right thing — tells station staff a man has shoved through the barriers.
The man sees him report it. Walks over. Punches him twice in the face. Hospital treatment for significant facial injuries.
British Transport Police’s response? Release a CCTV still and say they “would like to speak to” the man pictured because he “may have information.”

Fun fact: in the past 16 months, more pedestrians were injured by cyclists (3) on King Street than by motor vehicles (2). The most serious injury was to a 91-year old woman. Where is the concern from @LBHF about that?
Chiswick High Rd retweeted
Look at the verified @TfL collision data from 2017 to April 2026 (the latest count to date). There was not even ONE pedestrian injury on Weltje Rd or at the junction with King St. There was 1 collision in 2023 on the A4 near the bottom of Weltje (a 32-yr old male), but that's it.

They say they want to make the road "safer for schoolchildren, walkers and cyclists" but provide no evidence that school children or pedestrians have ever been at risk. This is purely about the risk to cyclists caused by the poor design of #Cycleway9.

Their emotive headline is all about "Putting children's safety first" - we can all agree that is a good thing, right? The problem is that there is NO evidence of any accidents involving children on this road or at the junction with King Street. @LBHF @hammersmithandy
