Those who have any problem with the pronounciation of Tamil actor Rashmika should be given a few lines of Tamil which is the oldest spoken language in the world and let’s see how well they pronounce Tamil . This fake and baseless linguistic superiority is not acceptable.

Schools across Maharashtra will stay closed from Monday, November 2, to Saturday, November 14, for the Diwali break, the state Education Department has announced. Classes will start again on Monday, November 16, when the second semester begins.
The break applies to recognised primary, secondary and higher secondary schools in the state. It is a 13-day vacation and includes the main festival dates: Dhanteras on November 6, Diwali Padwa (Balipratipada) on November 10 and Bhaubij on November 11.
Other dates in the 2026-27 academic calendar: the first semester began on June 15 and ends on October 31. The second semester will run from November 16 to May 1, 2027, and summer vacation will be from May 3 to June 14.
Schools have been told not to change the holiday schedule on their own. If they want to adjust dates for local festivals, they must first take permission from the education authorities. The early announcement is meant to help parents, students and teachers plan travel and family functions. Parents are advised to check with their child’s school for any further notice.

This guy from Odisha, India, who loved learning Sanskrit, has now created an engineering AI model better than OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra and every frontier model out there.
While the news is to be celebrated and his company congratulated, as Indians we need to feel disappointed that such extraordinary Indian innovators still have to come to the west to innovate.
The ecosystem (universities, accelerators, and funding) and the environment (livable towns, good infra) for such innovation and innovators, while has certainly developed, still needs to improve.
While I'm sure it will in the coming decade, for now, as I have long been calling for, India needs to build a GIFT city kind of dedicated town for tech and innovation in a place with good weather throughout the year.
And also create good incentives for these Indian origin founded companies in the west to immediately open centers in India, sharing back some of the tech they created.
Introducing SKY-001, the first Engineering World Model.
On CAD and BIM tasks, it beats GPT-6 Astra and every frontier model we tested:
-> 51-125x faster
- > 150-210x cheaper
-> Higher IOU than all frontier models
SKY-001 lets you dream a physical object before you build it.
18 months of work. Built by the team out of Maluuba's deep learning lab (acq. by @MSRResearch).
The first ‘AI General Engineer’ will be the backbone for Autonomous Manufacturing.

Not sure I’ve seen a more beautiful thread on the labor economics of AI.
🧵1/10 Given the recent reactions of mathematicians over rapid advances in AI, I think it is important to remember that technological change has historically been a very personal event for people.
Over the history of technological progress, looms have fallen silent, switchboards have gone dark, and factory lines have shrunk bringing with them a human crisis of identity and what it means to be a master of one's craft.

Can we PLEASE normalize just hanging out at each other’s houses again? Why does every friendship meetup need to be a whole production, a restaurant reservation, and a $150 bill? I just want to sit on your couch, drink something, and talk for hours.

When I first met him, out of awe and awkwardness I fiddled with my hair. He slapped my hand away and said 'hero ki tarah Baal mat bana...tu actor hai'!
He didn't flatter you. He didn't tell you what you wanted to hear. He told you what you needed to hear. That was Nana. Straightforward. Rough, honest and had the most beautiful smile.
He always had a strange way of showing affection. He would shout at you first, and then somewhere between the third or fourth insult, you realised you were being hugged. He loved me and I loved him back.
He was a mentor, a teacher, a critic and a friend who beat me and everyone else around him in carrom game after game and relished his victories.
Nana your intensity, laughter , madness and love will always stay with us. I just wish we had time to have more conversations, another argument, another cup of tea and a game of carrom.
You have left a void not only in the world of cinema but in the hearts of all Indians and the world. All I can say is, I will miss you dearly and carry your words in my heart till the end of time....'hero banne ke chakar mein actor mat khona'
May your soul rest in peace Nana and Allah bless you. The Heavens will be blessed to have you... a masterful actor and an unbeatable carrom champion. Love you and miss you dearly!! Too soon my Hero Actor! RIP.

Don’t be angry by the patronising racism here. That’s standard at @TheEconomist. But do laugh at how brainless this is. Conservation and protecting creatures has been civilisational culture in India for millennia. This is the creamy layer of racism: sneering, ignorant, erudite.
Isnt this too late? Almost everyone knows this
We aggregated five years of Google Flights data to find the best booking windows for holiday travel this year. Here’s what to know:
✈️ For Thanksgiving travel, flights tend to be cheapest in October.
✈️ For Christmas travel, the sweet spot for booking is 56 days out (October 30th).
✈️ Connecting flights can also be a big money saver. Nonstop tickets are 20% more expensive on average.
✈️ When you travel is key for saving: Departing on a Monday and returning on a Tuesday or Wednesday saves about 14% over weekend flights (and up to 20% domestically versus Sunday).
✈️ Wednesday beat Tuesday as the absolute cheapest day to book a flight, but the difference is negligible — buying a ticket on a Wednesday only saves you about 1.4% compared to Sunday, the most expensive day.
