Published today, Evidence Update for Minimally Invasive Surgical Evacuation of Supratentorial Spontaneous Intracerebral Hemorrhage A Science Advisory from the American Heart Association.
More recent clinical trial evidence has rekindled the role of surgical intervention for improving outcomes after spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH).
Recent advancements in minimally invasive surgical techniques suggest potential improvements in functional recovery, broadening consideration for surgical treatment of certain populations, such as lobar hemorrhage after spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage. professional.heart.org/en/sc…

AI in healthcare will ultimately be judged not by what it can demonstrate in a lab, but by whether we can deploy it safely and effectively in the real world.
A new study in @NEJM Catalyst describes how leaders at @MountSinaiNeuro evaluated, vetted, integrated, and deployed an AI-powered digital triage platform across our health system.
The results are impressive:
• ~22,000 completed AI-guided triage encounters
• 80% completion among patients who initiated triage
• 71% of use occurred outside normal business hours
• 88–96% concordance with physician triage
• System Usability Score of 85.5 (“excellent”)
• Zero reported patient-safety incidents
Perhaps most interestingly, among patients who already thought they knew where they should seek care, 62% had an initial plan that differed from the AI triage recommendation, and in 79% of those cases, the system recommended more urgent care.
This is where AI can become transformative: not simply answering questions, but creating a 24/7 digital front door that helps patients get the right care, in the right place, at the right time while making better use of limited healthcare resources.
Congratulations to Bilal Naved, Nicholas Gavin, @girish_nadkarni, Robert Freeman, [and the entire multidisciplinary @MountSinaiNYC team for demonstrating what thoughtful, clinically grounded AI implementation can look like at scale.

Hanging out with @PutrinoLab. This collaboration between a surgeon and a rehab expert is unique in that it allows us to bridge patient care from treatment through recovery. Excited about the work being done at @PrecisionRecInc and our other collaborations.

A new two-year data from the VNS-REHAB trial, now published in @GreenJournal show that improvements in upper-limb function, daily activities and quality of life following @vivistimsystem Paired VNS Therapy were sustained for at least two years.
The formal publication of these findings further validates the durability of our observed in-clinic results and, I believe, will help expand access to this technology for more stroke survivors who could benefit.
These findings are consistent with what I've observed in patients treated through our Vivistim Program at @MountSinaiNeuro, and offer meaningful hope for continued recovery, even years after a stroke.

🧠 SNIS 2026 Day 1 Lecture Spotlight: @chriskellnerMD explores the exciting potential of vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) for stroke recovery.
⚡ Prior studies have shown that VNS can improve upper extremity function after stroke, with emerging evidence suggesting meaningful gains are possible even in patients with chronic stroke. The early data are certainly promising—but what comes next? Dr. Kellner discusses where the field is headed and the future of this innovative approach to neurorehabilitation.
