Executive Mayor Cllr Dada Morero, extends his greetings to the residents of Eldorado Park and acknowledges the concerns raised by the community. He says the City is ready to repair and restore non-functioning streetlights, while noting that vandalism continues to undermine these efforts. The City is also rolling out solar-powered streetlights as part of its efforts to improve lighting in communities. The Mayor emphasises that functioning streetlights play an important role in creating safer public spaces and supporting efforts to combat crime. #EldoradoParkElectricityImbizo #CityPowerEngages

City Power's acting Chief Operations Officer for Engeneering Operations Simon Maphosa, responded to residents’ concerns, particularly regarding streetlights that are frequently not functioning properly. Maphosa highlighted theft and vandalism as some of the major challenges affecting City Power infrastructure and called on residents to refrain from attempting to repair or service electricity infrastructure themselves, as this can pose serious safety risks and further damage the network. He further explained that City Power is currently working on repairing pillar boxes across Eldorado Park as part of efforts to improve the reliability and safety of the electricity infrastructure in the area. Maphosa also urged residents to use the proper communication channels when reporting service delivery challenges and encouraged them to report suspicious workers or instances of poor workmanship so that the necessary action can be taken. He emphasised the importance of the normalisation process, which will include the installation of proper electricity meters. This will enable accurate electricity consumption measurement and ensure that revenue is collected correctly, supporting the sustainable maintenance of the electricity network. #CityPowerServices #EldoradoParkElectricityImbizo

The Chief of Police is on the ground as part of the City of Johannesburg’s Nomakanjani Manje Namhlanje Inner-City operation, conducting a walkabout at De Villiers and Klein streets and checking operational points. The walkabout provides an opportunity to assess deployments, engage with officers and ensure that teams remain visible and responsive as the City intensifies efforts to improve safety and enforce by-laws in the Inner City. #JoburgByLaws ^MM

Sometimes, the most important thing we can do is simply listen, ask and support. A genuine check-in can create a safe space for someone to speak about what they’re going through and remind them that their feelings matter.
