Maybe Barry will just resign before firing Kane at this point.
Barry Odom, when asked about any possible staff/assignment changes: "I've never been one to comment a lot on that publicly. I just don't think that's appropriate. Number one, we all have to do a better job, starting with the head coach and going all the way down the flow chart."

Getting late early. His hiring of Kane, followed by refusal to move on from him, is a sign of a guy that just doesn’t have a handle on things. Feels like he’s keeping Kane as long as possible so Kane can be the scapegoat this offseason in hopes of keeping his own job.
I wanted Barry Odom to work. It’s unfair to blame Purdue’s institutional ineptitude on Barry Odom. But Barry made his bed thinking he was smarter than all of us bringing back Kevin Kane. And between that and another terrible season, he needs to go. Have to roll the dice

And as we all know, Painter success always relied entirely on having Braden 😂 what a clown
Mick Cronin on Nikola Kusturica's start with @UCLAMBB: "It's recruiting. Purdue lost at home tonight to Valpo. And Matt Painter's one of the best people and coaches in our business. But Braden Smith ain't running out of that tunnel. (Nikola) is a great player. Not a good player, a great player."

West has shown no creation ability for others so he’d have to be a BIGTIME scorer. Ertel has looked okay, and we need to see more, but doesn’t look ready to take over. Mayer is the guy who looks ready, facilitates better than the other 2 so far, and gets decent looks.
Purdue: 1. DJ/Pierce are the front court they hoped for. 2. Cox/Harris are fine players. They aren't "go to" guys 3. They lack a Go To guy at the guard spot. That player needs to be able to handle/create. Options are Mayer, West, or Ertel. Their season depends on point 3***

The only devils advocate argument is that these lines are SO terrible that they are bound to not be that bad in the future.
Mayer was 1-11 in 27 mins West was 2-10 in 23 mins. Our PGs were a combined 3-21. There’s NO reason why Ertel and Webber shouldn’t be getting more mins. NONE!

The worst part of how bad the guards are is Daniel has exceeded our wildest expectations. What a stud he is for putting up with everyone’s doubts and just killing it for Purdue through two games.
The noise for Ertel and Webber will get louder and louder. Was Ertel GREAT? No. But he busts his ass and give him 25 min a game and I bet you see some things you’ll like. Webber can shoot. Something no one else can do

Hey @KevinSavage_K3 is it too late to reclass because we might have a job opening

As expected, all of Purdue best players are big men. Literally, I think the four best players of the half were DJ, Benter, Pierce, and Burgess. Omer Mayer with 4 assists and no turnovers is a silver lining, but he’s apparently the worst shooter of all time lol.
HALFTIME Purdue holds Valpo to 34.6 percent shooting and only two players have made FGs. ✅: Jacobsen - 11 pts, 3 rebs ✅: Benter - 6 pts, 2 3-ptrs. ✅: Harris - 5 pts, 3 rebs, 2 asts ✅: Pierce - 2 pts, 5 rebs

Gonna be devastating for our narratives if Myles is a superstar this year 😂 keep going though man. Love to see it.
Loved Myles Colvin out of high school, and he went off for Cincinnati last night in the W over Green Bay. 31 PTS, 7 REB, 2 BLK on 10/17 FG and 7/12 3PT. So high on his ability on both ends.

Watching this live was probably the funniest thing that I’ve ever seen in sports in the moment and I don’t even know if there’s a second place. This might be first, second, and third 😂😂😂
Remember when they tried smelling salts on air 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Daniel Jacobsen has arrived. Talked about Purdue’s next great big man on this week’s show. 📺 youtu.be/kGY8pS3gEbc?is=aFxc…

What a night for narratives... Braden starts point guard next to the actual regular starters, plays well, and gets Pacers a big W vs a 6-1 team. And it’s all made possible because while the Grizz annihilate the Pacers in Edey’s minutes, they (once again) fall apart without him.
Braden Smith/Zach Edey jersey swap.

This has to be for like some LeBron NIL donations or something right? I didn’t realize he was literally starting and then not even in their actual rotation. That’s wild.
This is somehow the crazier nepotism story than Bronny being in the league for 3 years... They're literally giving him token starts playing less than 5 mins a game while the other team legit don't guard him...

Time to start shopping Hali 😂
Braden Smith two steals in the first minute and that one goes the distance for a layup.

I think I’m just not watching a Kansas game on principle this year.
Not an overreaction to say that @KUHoops has the deepest (and maybe best) team in @Big12Conference. Picking up Trey Kaufman-Renn is like trading for Al Horford. @coach_paint

Trey Thompson is outside the rotation in year 2. Would’ve had a great chance to win minutes in Purdue’s big man room this season. Could’ve become a star in the best development program in the country. It was right there for him. Now? Bet he transfers out of Iowa. Tough breaks.

So happy for Jacobsen man. He’s obviously been working relentlessly for the last couple years to get to this opportunity at Purdue. Big things coming for the big man.
Highlighted Purdue big man Daniel Jacobsen as a big who could make some noise this year in the 2027 NBA Draft space. Awesome first showing against Gonzaga for the 7'4" junior, finishing with 22 PTS (9/11 FG), 7 REB, 2 AST & 1 BLK

Surprised how many people are only down on Omer for a game where no guard played well. Needs time. If Omer shoots 4-11 and has 13 and 5 with no turnovers, nobody would be that concerned. Certainly no other guard made a case for his minutes yesterday?
Omer Mayer should forget about his NBA dreams this year and focus on being a decent college basketball player. if he plays merely bad, Purdue might steal that game. he was beyond awful
