Gus just living his life is a constant reminder to take solace in—and derive joy from—the grand beauty of perennially simple things worth fighting for. Behold, a mid-morning nap in the cool soil of a freshly dug layer in his favorite hole beneath the shade of the crabapple tree:
Effective, useful and free public transportation instead of cars is the solution.
This is so maddening and heartbreaking- I’m not sure from a policy standpoint what the fix is. DWI 5 was in 2015, do we want to provide a path back into society and driving again or do we want to say after #5 you never get a license again? I truly don’t know the best path here.

In a story released today in @NextCityOrg featuring @JilliaPessenda, @cinnamonjanzer breaks it down...

It's inconceivable that there's any defendable reason for this. How does anyone justify covering the U.S. prison system while specifically excluding the voices of those within that system, those most impacted by that system, as anything other than outright oppression?
We run into a lot of barriers supporting incarcerated journalists, but this is a first.
@GuardianUS -- a publication that extensively covers the U.S. prison system -- has a new editorial policy banning its editors from commissioning stories from incarcerated reporters.

It's the time of year for @CivilEats' Holiday Book Guide!
I got to review two fascinating books: @WCKitchen's cookbook and another about the myriad contributions of Black women to food systems around the globe.

Cool to see @alffayard and @sft7la's @SSIReview article about the failings of design thinking within the complexities of the social sphere, weird to see the work @laurenstaceyw and I published the topic nearly a decade ago nowhere to be found!

A little project profile I did for @McKnightFdn is up! There is some very cool climate equity work going on in @A2GOV:
Ann Arbor, MI (@a2gov) will be carbon neutral by 2030, and they started in the Bryant neighborhood. They're electrifying homes community-wide, reducing energy burden & increasing health while showing the nation how to scale equitable climate action! 📽️ bit.ly/466FEu2
