Mt. Lemmon, Arizona near Tucson received significant rain over the last 24 hours. Streams that normally trickle quietly through the forest are now roaring downhill and reminding us just how powerful a mountain storm can be.

I’m a retired brain surgeon and I wanna tell you why you feel like life is passing by. I just need one minute to explain this to you so hang in there.
Repetitive daily routines stop the brain from recording clear detailed memories. When every day looks the same, your brain does not track time the same as a clock does. It tracks change. If nothing new happens then days, months, and years start to blur together.
This is know as Time compression. When life lacks variety, your brain compresses past days together, making it feel like time is sped up.
To stop feeling like life is passing you by, add new experiences to your life. Break routine habits, like changing your daily home routine, taking a different route to work, or trying a new hobby.
Schedule small trips or plan new adventures so your days do not blend together.
Practice mindfulness by staying fully focused on what you are doing right now and not trying to race off to the next task.
Keep a journal and write down happy memories or memorable parts of the day before you go to sleep.
Take deep, calm breaths when you feel anxious or rushed to return your focus to the moment.
You can and you will retrain your brain to not feel like life is passing you by by following these few simple measures.

James Webb Just Spotted Water Hiding Next to a Supermassive Black Hole
In the violent heart of our galaxy, where the supermassive black hole Sagittarius A* rules with extreme radiation and cosmic rays, you’d expect fragile molecules like water to be instantly shredded. Yet the James Webb Space Telescope has just found a surprising stash of it.
Astronomers pointed Webb at IRS 3, a dying star in the constellation Sagittarius that sits remarkably close (by cosmic standards) to the galactic center. This star has already burned through its hydrogen and swollen into a red supergiant. In its final stages of life it is unstable, puffing out clouds of dust, gas, and molecules — including water.
Webb’s razor-sharp infrared eyes detected two clear signatures of silicate dust and, more remarkably, substantial amounts of water molecules locked in the cold outer layers of the star’s ejecta. Computer models confirmed the water is real and abundant.
The real shock? These volatile compounds are surviving in one of the harshest environments in the Milky Way. The intense radiation and particle bombardment from the black-hole region should destroy them, yet here they are.
This discovery forces scientists to rethink how resilient water and other planet-building ingredients can be near supermassive black holes. Dying stars like IRS 3 may actually act as cosmic delivery trucks, seeding the chaotic central regions of galaxies with the raw materials needed to form future planets.
Even in the shadow of a black hole, the ingredients for life appear tougher than we thought.

Milton Friedman:
“Don’t look at what the proponents of one system or another say are their intentions. Look at what the actual results are.”
“Socialism, which means government ownership and operation of means of production, has appealed to high-minded, fine people, people of idealistic views, because of the supposed objectives of socialism.”
“But you have to ask the question: does the system, no matter what its proponents say, produce those results? Once you look at the results, it’s crystal clear that they do not. Social injustice is clearly greatest where you have central control.”

“I’ve long been in favor of abolishing it. There’s no institution in the US that has such a high public standing and such a poor record of performance... It has done far more harm than good.”
