WOW. CNN’s Nicole Wallace completely fire bombs Pete Hegseth from space: WALLACE: “Pete Hegseth may be the most glaring human encapsulation of everything the American people rejected on Tuesday. Incompetent, insecure, vindictive, vain, and wholly enamored with his authority to wage an unpopular war in Iran that has driven up the price of gas, fertilizer, diesel and groceries.”

A quarter of a century ago, USMC GEN Paul Van Ripper did this exact strategy. In 2002, he was tapped by the Pentagon to play a adversarial force (red team) modeled after Iran during the $250 million Millennium Challenge 2002 wargame. General Van Ripper refused to hold back. Cleverly using low-tech, asymmetric tactics, he launched a surprise strike that sank 16 to 19 U.S. warships including an aircraft carrie) within minutes. Van Rippers tactics were simple: motorcycle couriers, light signals, and coded signals from mosque minarets. Unhappy with the results, organizers halted the exercise, refloated the ships, and altered the rules to script a Blue Team victory. General Van Ripper resigned from his advisory role, but spoke out in protest: "Nothing was learned from this. A culture not willing to think hard and test itself does not augur well for the future." The U.S. military produced an exercise where "the result was preordained", and not a real test of America's ability to invade a hostile nation. He was prophetic a 24 years later.
BREAKING: Iran is now completely shifting toward low tech guerrilla warfare and asymmetric tactics in the Strait of Hormuz, deploying speedboats armed with RPGs and magnetic limpet mines to choke off crude shipments, per The Wall Street Journal. The cost imbalance is staggering: an RPG 7 round costs roughly $400, and limpet mines are described as “cheap and easily available.” Yet a single attack can disable a tanker, as seen when the MT Louise 1 was struck by two devices off Oman. The target is a multimillion dollar asset, with new VLCCs costing around $130 million and resale prices reaching $235 million. More than 35 incidents were recorded in October, the highest monthly total of the war, with at least five vessels hit in early November, per UKMTO.

Long post worth the read. I have a close friend who flies private jets. He flew Lear 60 for over 15 years and now flies a Gulfstream. This is a copy and paste of his response to me asking him if I thought Ice was the issue. “We always fly in ridiculous cold temperatures.” “Usually you get the bad ice when the temperatures are like 0 to negative 20. Believe it or not, there's a point where it gets too cold for ice. At negative 40, you pretty much can't get ice. Besides that, the airplane is equipped with hot wings and hot tail.” “I flew the Lear 60 for like 15 years. It's a no joke airplane and probably the most dangerous airplane I've ever flown. It has a super critical wing. The airflow has to be perfect. When it gets into rough air and turbulence, it will easily stall. It has stalled on me at 41,000 feet just because we got into some turbulence. (On the way to Palm Beach as a matter of fact. ) we recovered and got her flying again around 30,000 ft. Scary But here's the problem. This airplane has a terrible coffin corner. (At high altitudes) what that means is, you fly in a really narrow window where if you lose 20 knots, it stalls. And if you gain 20 knots, it goes into overspeed. The air goes supersonic over the wing and it goes into a high speed stall, or worse, a Mach tuck. So if you stall, the normal recovery is to push the yoke forward to lower the nose and gain air speed again. At low altitude, you can push really hard and recover quickly. But in the 60... if you push hard, it will gain air speed and go into a high speed stall, it doesn't take much. It's very sensitive. The 60 has super short wings that don't make much lift. So then you high speed stall, and the computer is yelling at you... OVERSPEED! So then you pull back and enter a low speed stall. And you go back and forth trying to keep it in the air speed window. This whole thing is pretty scary. And you should recover basically by using your finger tips using super small corrections. You can't over do it. If you try to muscle the recovery, she gets mad and will become unrecoverable. If she enters a mach tuck. You're done.” “I taught the Lear 60 to other pilots and mentored them. I told them... this airplane has a soul and it's trying to kill you. Do not ever try to top the weather. Don't go over a thunderstorm. Go around it. If it means a half hour longer, then do it. Going over the thunderstorm will go into turbulence that you might not recover from. These pilots went right over a thunderstorm. I think it stalled which caused them to drop down into the thunderstorm and ended up in mach tuck. They picked up so much speed that it ripped off the horizontal stabilizer. At that point... chuck Yeager can't fix it. These same pilots did something similar a couple months ago. ATC got mad at them. They poked the bear one too many times. This is not a beginner airplane. The Gulfstream would never do this. It has HUGE margins of error and won't stall like that. But then again... it's got HUGE wings. It's a pussy cat. The Gulfstream is like driving a 4 wheeler. The Lear 60 is like riding a uni cycle.”

Nobody warns you about the most dangerous creature in America. It's not a bear. It's not a shark. It's a 150-pound woodland ninja with zero situational awareness and absolutely no fear of your truck. Picture it. You're driving home. Coffee in the cupholder. Radio on. Minding your own business like a good, law-abiding citizen. And out of nowhere… The deer enters the chat. Darting in front of trucks like he's got the right of way. Staring down the yard cam like he pays the mortgage. Leaping right past the family dog, who just stands there wondering what he did to deserve this. Folks, I've been doing this a long time, and I've learned one thing about deer: They have exactly two settings. Frozen solid. Or full send. There is no in between. There is no turn signal. There is no "after you, sir." If you've ever driven a back road at dusk, both hands on the wheel, eyes scanning the tree line like you're on a combat patrol… You already know. You don't relax until you're in the driveway. And even then, you check the yard. Watch this whole thing to the end. Every clip is somehow worse than the last. What's the craziest deer encounter you've ever had?

As young men, Sean Connery and Michael Caine were best friends. They would go out drinking and dancing together, chase girls together, and have a jolly good time whenever they did. Naturally, a lot people other men were quite jealous of the dashing pair. One instance, Caine, recalls, four men dared attack the future Bond star — he simply folded his coat, gave it to Caine for safekeeping and knocked all four of them to the ground in about ten seconds. In another instance, American mobster Johnny Stompanato was jealous of a young Sean Connery as he suspected his girlfriend Lana Turner was having an affair with the young Scottish actor. Stompanato stormed onto the set of the film the actor was working on and threatened him with a gun… Connery, not skipping a beat, disarmed Stompanato by quickly grabbing his wrist, breaking it. The mafioso fled the scene, humiliated… All these things happened before Sean Connery was even cast to play James Bond. He was just a struggling actor but he already had the air of a main character and the guts to put his money where his mouth was. That’s the sort of man he was, and the sort of man he remained throughout his life. An icon, through and through
