WE LIVE HERE NOW, Sarah Pinborough: Very scary. Turns out there's life in the haunted house plot, after all. Original and my God, so dark. You'll never guess the ending.

People in authoritarian regimes don't wake up thinking, "I'm in an autocracy!" Leaders never declare, "Hey, I'm a dictator!" They stage "elections" like Russia's sham votes. Folks just live relatively normally: binge-watching shows, catching movies, chilling with loved ones, scraping by.
But insidiously, free speech erodes. Minorities face persecution. Political opponents are targeted. History gets rewritten. Troops patrol streets. Businesses bow to state pressure. Independent media silenced. Judiciary packed with loyalists. Dissent labeled treason.
Sound familiar?

After 3 long, hard years of tireless work, our cross-campus, multi-discilinary academic team reaching our goal: State of CT support to scale up CR Boxes for every classroom in Connecticut! 💪🌬️💫💫
This passion project started from the point of care at @uconnhealth 🏥where I have been treating people living with MS since 2017 as a neuro-immunology nurse practitioner. 👩⚕️
When the 🦠 pandemic struck, my immunosuppressed patients were vulnerable - majority females with families and many educators that work in our CT Schools. 👩🏫👦🧒 [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/article…]
I looked at the mitigation efforts in these hubs of our communities and saw a gap - no air purifiers in schools, while @JohnsHopkinsSPH and @HarvardChanSPH recommended this intervention.[centerforhealthsecurity.org/…]

Focusing for a moment on the POLICIES at play.
Voters were asked whether they supported 100 different policies, but weren't told whether the policy was from Trump or Harris.

Still thrilled beyond words (and a bit gobsmacked) that Han Kang, whose novel The Vegetarian I was lucky enough to acquire years ago, has been awarded the Nobel Prize. I am so proud to have had a part in bringing her incredible work to the US; she so deserves this immense honor.
BREAKING NEWS
The 2024 #NobelPrize in Literature is awarded to the South Korean author Han Kang “for her intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life.”
