Wang, who now leads AI at Meta $META, says longtime Meta executive Alex Schultz introduced them around 2021 or 2022. Zuckerberg's calendar was so packed that the first meeting took about a year to set up. Wang says that's because he's "very good at prioritization." After that, Wang would message him on WhatsApp for founder advice and get long, detailed answers back, fast. Then came the call. It was right after Llama 4, which Wang says was "internally speaking, a disappointment," and Zuckerberg just wanted to know what Wang thought Meta should be doing. Wang says he didn't see a deal coming. It only became clear "when we started talking numbers."
