Preparing carefully beforehand is the best way to be ready to improvise successfully during a lesson. When you know your lesson well, your working memory is free to perceive what students are doing & thinking. This allows you to better decide how to make adaptations & changes.

What a great idea!
I have created a bite-sized plenary/HW interpretations tasks for GCSE called 'Scholarship Postcards'. I've been inspired by @historychappy's scholarship talk at @TMHistoryIcons & @ArthurJChapman on indentifying facts to reveal the argument. #historyteacher #edutwitter

This is a really useful thread. I make sure students can access blank copies of the revision sheets we fill in in class so they can do a similar process.
Short thread on history revision for pupils who don't know where to start. What I advise: 1. Get the revision guide for your weakest topic. (At @nuneatonacademy we buy these in all subjects for all pupils.) 2. Get an exercise book or index cards.
Used these with y10 today. Apparently dual coding is more fun when I have drawn the image as it could be anything!
Have been slowly using less PowerPoint in lessons so thought I'd try using pen and paper to make my resources. #historyteacher

Had a go at a destroy a source lesson today after seeing the idea on here. Y8 engaged really well with. One student even made links to symbols from Greek mythology. Others not there yet but still a good way to end the Empire topic and bring together knowledge #historyteacher

Flash cards don’t need to be flashy! Another infographic from @Inner_Drive There’s a section in my book about flash cards I think they’re a great revision strategy 👍🏻 – at Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
