"ai agent" is just fancy buzzword for an ai that can do things for you. i use agents everyday in my job as an engineer/architect to plan / build specs / write code. haven't written line of code by hand in last 6 months. but there are many other use cases outside of engineering that i use agents for: - deep research - give agent a topic to do research on (product research, trade idea, best doctor in certain category in your area, best contractor in X category in your area, etc.) - it goes off and does research for 10 mins and comes back w/ findings - talk to it - talk thru an idea, go back n forth, poke holes in your thinking, fine tune your idea. e.g., this is what i do any time before i start writing code. go thru extensive Q&A to clarify all requirements => have it create detailed plan/spec => implement off plan until completion. this can apply to any idea/process, not just writing code* - medical research - i have a friend who experienced medical issues all throughout life, doctors never knew what was causing these issues. he had an agent analyze tens of thousands of articles in various medical journals, build a custom data model, compare it with his life medical history. it came back that it thought there was a 3/4 chance he had young parkinsons. he got tested and it turns out he did. completely changed his life - automate any multi-step procedure - do it once, turn it into a Skill. never have to do it manually again pretty much anythign you can think of, any idea you have, you can automate. thinking of chatgpt/claude/gemini and agents as two different things is wrong way of thinking about it imo. it's just different ways of automating things, making things easier, offloading work so you can focus on more interesting/challenging things. eod "harness" is all just md files (rules/skills/specs/etc.) that guide the agent. aside from that, it's just talking to the agent like a collaborator/assistant.
