"I spoke with Mikhail Shaidorov in the evening—he is cheerful, calm, perhaps just a bit bewildered (after such a skate, it would be strange not to be).
What happened? No, it’s not about poor physical shape or shoelaces (I saw that version too).
"Definitely, I expected a different kind of skate from myself—that’s not what I prepared for.
I was in very good shape, and everything went normally for me in practice. The practices here in Angers were good, normal for me when I’m in good shape. Physically, there were no glitches at all.
But something definitely went wrong psychologically. Maybe this will become some kind of point from which I can push off and become stronger. Something needs to be reassembled within myself—and, well, I guess it’s time to start building Lego again :)
I understand what the problem is. There is a lot of work to do—on everything, that's obvious. But right now, first of all, I need to take care of my psychological state.
I also want to say a huge thank you to everyone for the support. People worry about me more than I worry about myself, really. There was so much support in the stands today—considering that, essentially, there wasn't even a skate. But at the same time, people were rooting for me so much, I was incredibly touched. And how much I read in social media afterwards...! I didn't even think that after such a skate I would feel so much warmth and support.
See you soon in China—and everything will be fine, I know that for sure 🙂"
About the Lego—this is a reference to our summer interview with Misha. He admitted back then that in order to better focus and concentrate, he sometimes sits down to build Lego. The last time he did that was at the Olympics.
I think it's time for a trip to the store for a big box, Misha. There are new Formula 1 releases, I saw them :)
P.s. The photo is a special one.
The author is figure skater Nikolaj Majorov, who competes in ice dance for Sweden. In Angers, he managed to both skate two dances and take some beautiful photos."
