Student founder. Building Chiefly, an AI chief of staff that runs on your own computer. I also help Carolinas gyms get found on Google. Support the build 👇

Most boutique gyms don’t have a marketing problem. They have a “nobody nearby can find you this week” problem. Google Business Profile half-done. Reviews stuck at 40. Instagram posts that don’t turn into trial calls.

Build log, day 6. The step in the Chief Loop that most assistants skip is the last one: verify. "I sent it" isn't the same as it being sent. Chiefly checks the result before it tells you it's done.

This week I'm going to stop describing Chiefly and start showing it. Short, unedited screen clips of it doing real work on my own computer. No mockups. If something breaks on camera, you'll see that too.

You shouldn't have to re-explain your life to your assistant every Monday. A good chief of staff remembers what you decided last week, and why, and brings it up before you have to ask. That's the bar I'm building Chiefly to.
3
Your AI should be a hammer, not a landlord. A hammer doesn't change its terms, doesn't need you to log in, and still works if the company that made it disappears. That's the bar I'm building Chiefly to.

made it a proper home. official chiefly stuff lives over there now, the messy building stays here
This is Chiefly. A personal chief of staff that runs on your own computer. It keeps track of what matters to you, takes care of what it can, and asks before it acts. Official updates live here. The build log lives with the founder, @cltgrowth.

Build log, day 5. Most of this week's work came down to one idea: the Chief Loop. Chiefly notices something, makes a plan, acts, asks you to approve, then checks it actually worked. Same five steps, every time.

Matthew | Builds Chiefly + Local Presence retweeted
Do not quote retweet this or I will be forced to give people $42.0 or $420! This is not engagement farming, it’s 1am and I’m bored AF and we all deserve a 420 break! Do not quote retweet or you might get smashed with X Money
Anyone need $4.20 in x money

I spent most of the last year building things nobody needed. What finally stuck was the thing I kept wanting for myself: a chief of staff that lives on my own computer, remembers what I'm working on, handles what it can, and asks before it acts. You don't subscribe to it. You hire it.

Build log, day 4. Founders beta testers get a "Report a problem" card right inside Chiefly. Something breaks, you open the card, say what happened, and it writes up a report you can send me. I'm the only one building this. I want to hear about every bug.

Build log, day 3. The first time you open Chiefly, it runs a 2-minute interview card to learn about you. So it isn't starting from zero, and you aren't re-explaining yourself every time you ask for something.

This weekend a few friends get to try Chiefly before anyone else. Private, small, on purpose. I want them to break it so I can fix it. Local-first, no account, and it asks before it acts.

New rule for Chiefly: every approval card asks once and runs once. If you didn't say yes, it doesn't happen. If you said yes, it happens one time, not twice. Sounds basic. Took a full stress test to get right.

Build log, day 2. You can now send Chiefly several messages back to back. Each one gets its own answer, in order. No waiting for it to finish before you type the next thing. Changed your mind? There's a Stop button. Small thing. Makes it feel a lot less like a form.

Build log, day 1. Jarvis was the codename. Chiefly is the product. Today: Chiefly reads screenshots, receipts and scanned PDFs on your own computer and saves the text into your notes. A test receipt read "TOTAL $11.47". Correct. Local by default. Cloud only if you opt in.
