It’s our 24th Annual Resident Research Day.
Just reminds me that our @UVASurgery residents are wicked smaarht! (For all the Bostonians out there)
Excited for the 7th Trainee Diversity and Inclusion Conference!!!
Always enlightening…
Proud of @UVASurgery for the leadership our residents provide to this conference and to @uvahcdi including current President Gabrielle Steinl
Other than being a surgeon, being a PD for @UVASurgery has been the greatest professional honor of my career.
It’s easy with this crew. Hard to outshine them!!
Lessons learned from my daughter….
I asked her if she was going to have a good day and she said "I'm already having a good day!" 🥰🥰🥰
Love her attitude….could use more of that in the world
Beautiful day in Maine. But haze from wild fires is very real. These are not clouds…the blue dot is our location.
Every once in awhile you see something amazing you’ve never seen but only heard of….today was such a day. A full complete rainbow.
Got an amazing email today. An excited senior faculty member shared that an @UVASurgery recent grad did a case with a former trainee of his from another institution!!! The excitement of being a surgical educator!!! The “circle of a surgical life” continues….#HoosUVASurgery

Today is the kickoff of our annual Robotic Surgery Bootcamp! This immersive program offers hands-on training in robotic-assisted surgery, ensuring that by graduation, all our residents are proficient in this advanced surgical technique! #roboticsurgery @MedicineUVA @uvahealthnews
ALT Resident using the DaVinci Robot to complete a training activity.
ALT Robotic stitching practice
Graduation day is truly epic….but nothing beats the raw energy and excitement of the intern picnic.
Tomorrow the journey begins.

As @ASCRS_1 heads back to clinic and OR let’s commit to our wellness, wellbeing and longevity as surgeons and human beings. These people keep my wellbeing in check at work. My colorectal partners mean the world to me. 😎❤️🍩
My favorite place in the world…..this time of the year the mosquitoes are tough…but still…spectacular!!! #Maine
PS: we do rent….if interested DM me. Would love to share with responsible people. I’m biased towards surgeons…😂😂😂😂

An incredible presentation and analysis by Dr. El Moheb on the impact of socioeconomic distress on readmission after cardiac surgery! Socioeconomic distress did not predict readmission but distressed patients more likely to be readmitted later suggesting lack or resources.

Today @fleming_ii was honored with the inaugural Mark A. Fleming, II Award for Advocacy and Advancement of DEI in GME. An honor recognizing his years of work making us all better.
Congratulations to Dr. Fleming!!!

Incredibly proud of the work our residents do everyday…but particularly proud of this group of individuals who have made our department and university a better place. Thank You for leadership and advocacy.

I'm very proud of our talented surgery resident Emily Ninmer, and our team, for her paper recently published in Nature Communications with evidence that a melanoma vaccine stimulating CD4 and CD8 T cells against melanoma antigens prolongs overall survival.
