Full solidarity with Romania after violations of its airspace through drone incursions. We remain committed, together with NATO Allies and EU Member States, to strengthening Euro-Atlantic security.
For the second time in 24 hours, Romanian airspace has been violated by drone incursions.
I commend the Romanian authorities for their swift and effective response.
We stand in full solidarity with Romania and its people. The security of Romania is the security of Europe. We will continue to strengthen the EU’s security, resilience and deterrence, including along our Eastern border.

Canada has decided to move forward with Saab GlobalEye as its new airborne capability for Airborne Early Warning and Control. I look forward to welcoming Canada into the GlobalEye family.
GlobalEye is a highly modern and capable system that now has earned the trust of a fourth country, in addition to Sweden, France and the UAE.
By operating Global Eye, Canada strengthens its ability to safeguard their sovereignty while contributing to NATO’s collective defence, including being a vital asset for surveillance and control of the Arctic region.
As the GlobalEye is based on the Canadian Bombardier Global 6500 platform, GlobalEye is already creating jobs in Canada, and working with the Canadian supply chain. This decision ties our two nations even closer together.

Our discussions today also focused on the need for increased pressure on Russia to reach a lasting end to its war of aggression against Ukraine.

An important meeting with the @SwedishPM Ulf Kristersson. We greatly value our relations with Sweden and all forms of support for our people. And today, one of the key topics of our negotiations was strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities. We consider the JAS 39 Gripen aircraft to be one of the most effective elements of this effort and count on the first deliveries of Gripens already in 2026. We also discussed the situation with air defense and the implementation of the PURL initiative. Special attention was given to Ukraine’s energy sector, with urgent needs arising from Russia’s ongoing attacks on our energy infrastructure.
We coordinated positions with the Prime Minister ahead of this week’s meetings in Europe – the European Council session in Brussels and the Coalition of the Willing in London. It is crucial to remain united in our decisions to achieve the results we aim for.

Russia’s horrific attack on the Sumy this Palm Sunday morning killed more than 20 civilians. This is not the act of a country that seeks peace.
