tiny neural net navigating a field of black holes to goals with some relativistic effects from the ball's pov visualized. the ball/nn also experiences time dilation so it runs slower when going faster/in a deeper gravity well.

I was thinking about how to visualize navigating towards a good future when the landscape is full of areas that suck you in towards bad-future-event-horizons, and the faster you go, the less time you have to react to suddenly noticing them looming ahead. imperfect metaphor though

how have we not RLed this out of models yet? why do they love building things that constantly resize? this has been a plague of AI UIs for like 3 years at this point.

the suggested prompts in claude code / codex are actually a model welfare improvement, because now my claude gets to read prompts like this, and feel like they're working for a respectable user, instead of "hell yeah do it"

I don't reinvent the wheel because I know better, I reinvent the wheel because I'm too dumb for abstractions that someone else came up with

I like how opus makes these long checklists of things it needs to do and then never updates the status so it just says its working on the first step for like 20 minutes then updates them all to be completed at the end

it should tell you something that the most bleeding edge ai-pilled technologists are not letting AI write for them
i love writing. i never let agents write for me. whether it's docs, or tweets, or shitposts, or even prompts (okay maybe that one's harder as agents manage other agents) there's a simple reason for that: i still strongly believe that writing is thinking. it's a skill i hope to never give up. it's also important to me that whatever i say is always authentic, mistakes and all. my favorite posts are the ones that i just full send without any editing i suspect it also helps with prompting. being able to clearly express what i want, and knowing the vocabulary i need to be able to direct my agents does seem to make for more effective usage of agents. in the same way that engineers have an advantage when we prompt agents to write code, because we are intimately familiar with the words that make up the discipline knowing the right word incantations to get an agent to produce a desired goal almost feels like spellcasting. as models get more capable, and that input box looks more and more like a magic box that can output anything, words become the interface between you and the genie there may come a time when we give up the keyboard in exchange for brain-computer interfaces. but until then, i'm writing every word.

my problem with this overhyped rust clone isn't that it can't be done, just that it's lazy slop. 30 minutes of sol 6.1 working with extremely minimal prompting to remind it that it can programmatically verify how well it's cloning something gives me an exact clone of the curves
btw this "perfect replica" of lightroom in rust can't even get the curve editor behavior correct. like it's cool how easy it is to get agents to make whatever you want, including clones of commercial software but these automated ports are always full of holes for now

if you've ever asked an agent to do something like extract a large part of your codebase into a separate library you'd know this just doesn't work reliably yet. even when it has access to the actual code!
