🎉 React Native & Expo just got their FIRST dedicated security scanner.
And it runs straight from your terminal.
🔒 Introducing rnsec
A zero-setup CLI that scans your React Native & Expo apps for real-world security issues before they hit production.
In the age of AI and vibe coding, when code ships faster than ever, this can be a real lifesaver.
What makes it different?
• One-command CLI, install and run
• HTML + JSON reports, perfect for CI and sharing
• 65 security rules, 100 coming soon
• No setup, no config
• Built specifically for React Native & Expo
If you ship mobile apps, this belongs in your pipeline.
This is just the first version. There’s more work to do, and I’d love your feedback.
👉 Try it now and give it a star: rnsec.dev

💻Happy to bring "SchemaJS" to the open source community. Inspired by @supabase's edge runtime & Google's datastore, SchemaJS is a database system written in Rust 🦀 on top of v8 (Thanks to rusty_v8 by @deno_land!)

People on here waiting months/years for "the right idea"
When the point is the right idea gets to you when you working on the wrong idea and even then it might not even be the right idea yet, it'll evolve 10 more times to become the right idea
Then it'll only be the right idea for a while and you can make money on it before you need to evolve it into the next idea
So the whole "right idea" approach is completely wrong, it's more like be on the "right flowstate journey" perpetually which involves tapping into what's going on around you (eg on here) well

my best advice for getting into tech 2024
tech is open to anyone with enough grit. it's hard, it's really really hard. harder than a lot of people will tell you. it continues to be hard and i suspect it's getting harder
* some bugs take an enormous amount of investigation
* sometimes you work with someone that drives you nuts
* tech can be numbingly boring
learn to love the process. i never had the privilege of "doing something i loved because..." (broke/threatened with murder) but i learned to love the pain and i learned to love the process
to this day i am regularly rediscovering it, regularly stoking desire and passion for tech. i have no idea how anyone makes it for 30 years without a desire, hope, and passion, but most of all, a touch of love
even the most boring tasks can be the greatest teachers

hot take
so many startup designers act like big company designers
building large design systems, writing loads of documentation, etc
it’s good to lay foundations but your goal is finding pmf and increasing revenue
embrace scrappiness, move fast and ship product

You don’t become interesting by copying interesting people.
You become interesting by following your own interests, going deeper down the rabbit hole than anyone else, and surfacing something new for the rest of us.

one advice to software engineers of all levels, don’t get discouraged if the thing you are trying to build exists in some shape or form. And especially avoid googling or seeing how it is built.
because the moment you do so you snap into the other person thought process and abandon yours. you get into problems that they were trying to solve which you may have never ran into to begin with.
I often see some engineers especially seniors when they are told of an idea by their subordinates they quickly say “oh its been done before” or “oh look this github repo up its all there”
do you have a slightest idea what this does to creativity?
and even if you decided to still go on with your project and get “ideas” from that other project, your thoughts are contaminated, you will produce a similar, a clone product. where is the fun in that? Don’t even say “Im going to make it better” because that means you are starting where they left off.
There is a saying in Arabic “to break one’s paddles.”
Don’t kill the excitement and spark you have over that, you have absolutely no idea what it will amount to.
Build it only to build it so you are lost while building it.

When I was 18, I used to take the govt. bus to go to college every day. Many times, there used to be weird men who used to touch me inappropriately but it used to get hidden under all the chaos. I remember there were times when I used to come back home and shower multiple times because I it made me feel gross after being on the crowded bus. When things got too heavy, I would take the shared rickshaw. It was nothing better. Every day during that ride to college and back home, I only dreamt of changing things for the better and never having to go through this again.
The other day somebody sent a Mercedes to pick me up for an event. I took a quick picture without letting the person notice. Not to flaunt the picture or the car, but for the 18yr old me.
I am grateful for the life I have today, and I’m sure if 18yr old me could see this, it would make her day and she would smile all her way standing in the bus for that day🙃❤️ – at Bengaluru South, India
When I was 21 my then girlfriend and I were both just utterly broke. Two kids from India on large aid
packages. So Christmas Eve we went to the mall and gave each other an imaginary budget of 2000 dollars and split up for a hour. Seemed like the world at the time. And then we met back and went from shop to shop showing what we WOULD’VE bought each-other if we had the money. An entirely imaginary Christmas. Then we split an ice cream, took a bus home. Many years later, writing a movie, need a moment in the second act which makes you root for a couple, memory comes in out of nowhere, and put that scene into the screenplay.
