Police in Wisconsin used Flock to track a man who traveled to Michigan, where marijuana is legal, then back to Wisc., where it is illegal
They then used his travel as part of the probable cause justification to search his car for weed and he was arrested 404media.co/cops-used-flock-…

One of the sides in the 2026 World Cup quarter-finals has travelled almost 11,000 miles. Another has yet to leave the East Coast.

surely now that tanking is “resolved” there will be renewed focus on addressing the aspiration and gambling scandals
The promise of the digital world was that things would last. But that’s been proven to be a big lie. Entire archives are deleted in the blink of an eye each day.

the Knicks are leading the Hawks 60-19, which is around the same score the Monstars were leading the Tune Squad by that caused the scoreboard to read "Kinda One Sided Isn't It?"

Earlier this week, I broke fast at Rikers Island with New Yorkers in custody, Department of Correction staff, Commissioner Stanley Richards, and Councilmember Yusef Salaam.
It was a night that will stay with me for quite some time. People sharing what little they have: breaking bread, offering prayer, making space for one another’s dignity even in the hardest place.
In a system too often defined by what it takes, I was reminded of what it means to give—mercy, dignity, and humanity.
May we extend that mercy as far as we can. Eid Mubarak to all.

One of the more interesting parts of the new CBA is that WNBPA seems to have secured backpay for retired WNBA players. What they get:
$100,000 for retirees with 12+ years of service
$50,000 for retirees with 8-11 years of service
$30,000 for retirees with 5-7 years of service

Probably the most definitive proof of right-wing media bias is that “nonpartisan” CBS thinks a mayor’s wife’s Instagram likes are a major story while Republicans in Congress say stuff like this with no pushback:

The stumble is a warning - but not in the way Ross thinks. It’s a warning to everyone on the left - from the liberals in the center to the socialists on the far left: the rightwingers and their friends in the mainstream media will happily engage in smear campaigns and gotchas against Dems in way they never do against the GOP. That we are all talking about this AOC Taiwan answer and not the rest of her answers, or even the fact that the president is an imbecile and an ignoramus who couldn’t find Taiwan on a map of his life depended on it is what’s revealing and Dems need to be ready for this media climate come 2028
Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez’s appearance at the Munich Security Conference — one of the world’s premier foreign-policy events — seemed to be a step in the direction of higher office. It was supposed to be a triumphant foreign visit for Ocasio-Cortez, who is, on the national level, the best current hope for the American left, political columnist Ross Barkan writes.
Though she acquitted herself well in a majority of the interviews and panels in Munich, one stumble stood out, writes Barkan. Questioned directly about whether the U.S. should send troops to defend Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion, Ocasio-Cortez stalled for about 20 seconds. “I think that, uh, this is such a, a — you know, I think that — this is a, um — this is of course, a, uh, a very long-standing, um, policy of the United States,” the congresswoman said.
The stumble is “a warning for progressives,” writes Barkan. “It’s vital to approach certain foreign-policy and national-security issues, including China’s potential invasion of Taiwan, in a more sophisticated manner.”

For the conservatives comparing this to DOGE, this will probably be less like getting rid of the people in charge of weather forecasting and more like saying “let’s not pay McKinsey $2M to tell us to buy trashcans”
This morning, I joined @PIX11News to announce a new executive order requiring every city agency to designate a Chief Savings Officer.
Within 45 days, these officers will identify which city services deliver the strongest results for New Yorkers—and where we can streamline processes and cut waste. The goal is simple: make sure every public dollar works harder to deliver a safer, cleaner, and more affordable city.

Sun fans deserve better. Ownership had a competitive offer on the table that kept the team local, and the league rejected that in favor of its own (less lucrative) deal for an “up next” NBA owner. Would love to see a W team return to Houston, but not like this.
Breaking: Houston Rockets ownership is in substantive talks with the Connecticut Sun over the potential purchase and relocation of the WNBA franchise, sources told me and @ramonashelburne
