Clark Kent truly was the connective tissue in the fabric of NYC/hip-hop culture that’s slowly, surely, and sadly unraveling due to time, gentrification, and the passing of legends. he brought us and elevated Biggie and Jay.
no Clark Kent = Jay-Z coming home from London and deciding to sell drugs full time vs testing out this rap shit.
God’s Favorite DJ. #RIPClarkKent

Grandmaster Caz rapping over the "Good Times" instrumental, backed by Nile Rodgers and Chic, last night at the Paid in Full Awards in Vegas.
A partial healing of hip-hop's original sin.

Always found it interesting how the prefixes Young and Little that you encounter so frequently in rap music can also be found in Maghrebinian Raï music with the likes of Cheb Mami and Cheba Nouria and many more.

Interesting Eurodance bit here featuring what appears to be a US MC who a year later would also rap with Chic.

The instrumental albums released by 3:33 (aka Parallel Thought) are the darkest albums I’ve ever heard. They are perfect.
It’s a shame they are nearly impossible to find online nowadays for new ears to experience.

People do better with less coddling... also we (im not technically genx) had a WAY more flexible attitude towards cooperation.
You really didnt have a say WHEN ur parents boned or WHERE they lived when they did it
So you HAD to just find frens in the limited pool of humans near ur house
So your crew had a much more different kinds of people and skills.
Think of it like having a strike team... you got the planner the builder the note forgerist the brave one the kid with no supervision so you could hide shit at their house
It was a tactical upbringing
The 'international reach' argument... Often when someone dismisses a rap artist's impact, they name regions where that impact apparently wasn't felt. People like myself then counter with 'But Scarface (e.g.) sold records around the world at the time'.
How much do you value that?

Take note: there's a reason professional athlete jewelry shines significantly more than rappers jewelry... Brad Jordan isn't lying about the lack of money in music
