Left it all out there. Respect.
Just look at what today meant to Jayden Reid. In tears in his postgame interview after dropping 32 and coming up clutch to lead Memphis to a huge win over VCU. Great job by my guys @Greg_Gaston and @Treydraper3 to let him show his full emotions. An instant fan favorite here.

Next draft imperative to go all in on the dynamic guard of the future to go with Booze timeline. Jerome is a bucket, but not a PG. Would still try to keep him if the money is right.
8 games in a quick thought about each player: Ty - been amazing. But don’t love the offense as much when he’s running it. Ced - has looked really great. Want to keep increasing his shots (but not his dribbling) Wells - has been great this season but tonight was rough Boozer - youngest player in the league has shown incredible flashes and some youth early on Edey - impactful even when he’s nowhere close to himself yet. Needs to get more comfortable Spencer - has been impressive and the balls zips around when he’s out there Stewart - has made such a difference. Hope his knee injury is a day-to-day thing. We need him. GG - super disappointing. Solid opener, had that one hot shooting night. Besides that has been really bad. Grant - what I expected. Kinda mid. Can get you some buckets here and there. Likely disappears when the stakes are higher Post - mixed bag. Like him as a 3rd big. Not as much as a backup big. But maybe with more regular minutes he can find a rhythm. Murray - as much as I love the defense that shot is about the most broken thing I’ve ever seen Omax - 🤷🏻‍♂️ Pippen - I love pip and hope he’s back soon. But seems like his long term place on this team is in jeopardy Small - still feeling good about his backup PG upside Mashack - would really like to see what he looks like with a rotation spot. I have this feeling he will be a major impact guy Hendricks - 🤷🏻‍♂️ Lopez - very raw, don’t expect him to play real minutes unless something goes wrong. But I like the little I’ve seen so far. Cooper - 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t mind the Grizz losing, but 2 back to back home losses to less than good teams is not great. Should have been a bounce back game, instead ugly and sloppy ball

Republicans are going to have a terrible night, and the simple reason why is that Trump has put up perhaps the worst *performance* this term of any president in a century or more. Remember that he entered with an actual mandate: the House and Senate, a popular vote victory and a swing-state sweep, and 6-3 Supreme Court. Democrats were afraid enough to vote for mild but real immigration restrictionist legislation in the Laken Riley Act. Everyone wondered how far the "Vibe Shift" would go. Trump managed to turn that into essentially zero durable wins whatsoever. He personally *hates* the very idea of legislation, the notion that he would have to spend time going back and forth with Congress, learning details and making compromises. So he simply didn't do it! He didn't make a compelling case for abolishing the filibuster. He didn't try communicating clearly to the public in support of popular bills to get to 60 votes. He just decided not to do it at all. So they passed an unpopular tax cut, some funding for ICE, and a sop to the crypto industry, and that was basically it. Least productive Congress in decades, due to the tastes of one man. Trump adopted one of the worst macro policies we've ever had: high deficits, high tariffs, and attacks on central bank independence. We managed to pay higher interest rates while still having high trade deficits AND weakening the dollar. Just a total failure. On immigration, perhaps THE signature issue, Trump essentially min-maxxed effectiveness and backlash. Instead of trying to leverage the political moment for new laws and a self-deportation agenda (that is, walling off the economy to remove the benefit of irregular presence in the US), he opted for a maximally aggressive approach. The administration spent attention, funds, legal manpower on stunts like deporting random people to Salvadoran prisons with essentially no due process. ICE and Border Patrol were encouraged to be aggressive and confrontational, which helped contribute to the shooting deaths of American protestors. It turns out, that's extremely unpopular! What about the approach of going after employers? The obvious vector? Trump hated that idea! He repeatedly has said he doesn't want to target businesses (especially farms) that use large amounts of illegal labor. This is just an incomprehensible position. Instead of charging a few dozen businessmen and removing the incentive for millions of illegal workers to be here, you arrest people off the street one by one at the cost of thousands of dollars in manpower per each, while their crying wives and kids post TikToks about it. Upshot on immigration: electoral strength turned into a crippling electoral weakness in exchange for deporting maybe 6% of the illegally present population. The tariffs were a total shitshow. Embarrassing rollout, no underlying theory of action at all. No targeted focus on key industries. Our country tariffed products we can't grow. We tariffed *inputs* of our own valuable exports. The schemes and amounts changed constantly, sending the stock market reeling and presenting scenes of chaos to the world. Trump's messaging throughout has been generationally bad. While facing nearly 2:1 unpopularity, he spends his days posting AI slop, saying he'll rename New Mexico or invade allies, among other bizarre remarks. He brags about a ballroom and a pool repainting while gas hits records. At no point has he ever attempted any kind of message discipline. Then there are the deeply unpopular attacks on rule of law, his "game-recognize-game" pardons for all manner of scammers and criminals, the crypto schemes that he and his family engage in, the evilly conceived and embarrassingly executed legal attacks on Comey, Jerome Powell, and others. With his monthslong stand on NOT releasing the Epstein files, he became maybe the first president ever to stake out a 99-1 issue on the 1% side. That's not even getting into Iran, DOGE, his candidate recruitment choices, or countless other things. Simply put: Trump has managed to royally screw up virtually every single facet of his presidency. It's been undeniable, voters have noticed, and there's really no escape from it. This is what the GOP base chose in early 2024, and this is the world they're living with now. Where they handed the reins of history to a fat, vain, washed-up old man and let him drive.

Ehhhhh not my favorite quote. The team can be and is in a rebuilding phase but the mantra needs to be win every game and no moral victories. Culture needs to dictate that losing will happen but the goal is higher.
Tuomas Iisalo was proud of how the Grizzlies competed down the stretch. Mentioned how they’re the second youngest team in the league and made a lot of good decisions. “We are not a fully formed contender. We’re in the rebuilding phase, and we’re off to a great start with that.”

Not a great loss tbh, at home to a bad team. Was bound to happen and I liked how they fought. I hope they hate this feeling and bounce back accordingly. Also Edey has to be better. Has to.

Meh.
Charles Huff on what was different in this first half compared to the first half vs ECU. "The other team."

Some of that was injuries, some of it was FO blunders, some of it was appeasement coaching. This feels different than that. This team makeup is different than that.
Just night and day difference from that front running loser “wait til next year” culture that was festering in the Grizzlies organization. Don’t ever allow “it’s ok to lose” to take hold in your lockeroom.

Damn he still can’t string together more than 5 games
Portland Trail Blazers' Ja Morant has sustained a Grade 2 left hamstring strain and will miss at least four weeks, sources tell ESPN.

And no one serious with a single brain cell in their head is saying this Grizz team is about to go win a ring this year. But decisions were made. The reset was needed. Last version of the team wasn’t going to be great at anything. Good moves, if not a little late.
