Before El Clasico, Real Madrid’s TV channel criticized the referee, which can create unnecessary controversy and put additional pressure on officials. In my opinion, this approach does little to protect the integrity of the game and only distracts from the football itself. Barcelona accepted the defeat without making the referee the centre of attention. I believe both clubs should show the same level of accountability and respect for officials, regardless of the result. If the situation were reversed, I wonder whether the reaction from Real Madrid and its media would be the same. Football should be decided on the pitch, not in the media. No club should be allowed to use its influence to shape the narrative around referees whenever the result doesn't go its way.
