The MCU fanbase has repeatedly undermined Sam for years in a way they insist that the projects he’s been in have. It’s an act of deflection. Then when actual disrespect happens, it’s excused away.

"its a joke" except its actually not a joke, its a slip up made by a character who in-universe has been aware of sam as cap for the five years that steve has been dead. its a lazy regressive way of trying to make audiences laugh bc thats all mcu writers can do nowadays

I do think the concept of vigilante superheroes is outdated. They were made in an era where violent crime was wildly more common than today and it's becoming increasingly difficult to consider them without thinking in larger more structural terms.
