Stake your government on what, @Dave_Eby? A thinly-guised fossil fuel subsidy to largely American-owned gas exports?
To protect our public grid, we must block LNG from accessing clean power. “Electrifying” LNG won’t reduce GHGs and would require 8.4 Site C dams in power.#bcpoli
NEW - Premier David Eby did not rule calling an early election if the NDP cannot pass the North Coast Transmission Line bill. He slammed the Conservatives for trying to delay the bill, says BC Greens don’t support it.
“I will stake my government on it.”

Every year, as wildfires choke us with smoke and the warnings of drought get louder, our government sides with fossil fuel billionaires over people and the planet. It’s not just apathy that brought us here, it’s corruption. (1/3)

Logging won’t stop wildfires, it’s making them worse.
Clearcuts + plantations are more flammable. Old-growth resists fire. Cultural burning reduces risk.
Real fire solutions come from Indigenous knowledge, not industry spin.

Canada is one of the top ten CO2 emitters in the world. But that's not the whole story. Canada exports fossil fuels to other countries, increasing their CO2 emissions. Alberta is intent on building more pipelines and BC is intent on shipping LNG. It's time to #keepitintheground.
Which countries have contributed the most to historical CO₂ emissions?
When we emit carbon dioxide (CO₂) into the atmosphere, most of it stays there for centuries or millennia. This means that CO₂ emitted even a century ago has contributed to the rising temperatures we see today.
In other words, how much the climate warms depends on how much cumulative CO₂ is emitted over time.
The chart shows the ten countries with the largest share of the world’s historical emissions, based on cumulative emissions from fossil fuels and industry since 1750.
The United States has contributed the most, accounting for almost one quarter. This is followed by China and Russia.
(This Daily Data Insight was written by @_HannahRitchie.)

ALT Bar chart titled "Countries that have emitted the most CO2 emissions to date," showing each country's share of cumulative global emissions since 1750. The USA leads with 24%, followed by China (15%), Russia (6.7%), Germany (5.2%), and the UK (4.4%). Other notable countries include Japan (3.8%), France (2.2%), Canada (1.9%), and Ukraine (1.7%). Data reflects fossil fuel and industry emissions, excluding land use, sourced from the Global Carbon Budget (2024).

Whoa! Ken Sim & co's motion to remove the fracked gas ban was defeated tonight!
PS
1. ABC Van is split! Interesting.
2. This ban won't make new housing more $$$. Price of land is the main cause of that.
3. Fracking gas *costs* BC. It's an over-subsidized scam.

Friends! Mobilization works!
We just defeated effort to re-allow gas in new building in Vancouver!! Gas industry did all it could to bring back fossil heating. Tonight, they failed 🎉

The Greens lost by only 60 votes in West Vancouver-Sea to Sky last election. It may be that close against the Conservatives this election too. Vote Green. Woodfibre LNG is still a thorny issue in that riding (& for all of us). Thanks Tracey for endlessly fighting this. #bcpoli
Thanks to @ainscruickshank and @thenarwhalca for helping to expose how Woodfibre LNG and FortisBC are already harming our community.
I'd say I feel like @ErinBrockovich but this work makes my heart race.
