As one of the countries most severely affected by desertification, China has actively advanced desertification control and major ecological projects and has become the first country to achieve simultaneous reduction in both desertified and sandy land areas. Now, the country’s experience is being applied to Africa's Great Green Wall Initiative. Launched by 11 African countries, including Mauritania, the initiative aims to curb the southward expansion of the Sahara by building a forest barrier over 7,000 kilometers long and 15 kilometers wide. From the Taklimakan to the Sahara, China and Africa share a common vision for a greener future. Their cooperation in combating desertification is helping transform vast stretches of barren land into green landscapes.

Zhipu has signed agreement w/ China Mobile cloud to integrate domestic compute & AI Models. GLM series will be on China Mobile's MaaS platform aka MoMA. The way forward for Chinese labs is work w/ cloud giants in China to secure more corporate contracts.
China Mobile expects 500B RMB procurement budget in 2027 including 100B+ on compute & 100B on mobile endpoints. It has started construction of 3 GW-scale data centers in 2026 & will add 2 more such DC in 2027 for a total of 7 GW-level data centers. It reports 5x increase in AI generated contents on its network as AI related data drives a lot of its network growth. Reminder that in China, the level of compute & investment + demand are generally a lot larger than you think. It's just that a lot of that compute are not used by leading edge AI labs, since that's not where money is being made at all.

China's plan for next-gen communication network integrates: 5G, 5G-A & 6G along w/ 10-Gigabit optical networks & satellite internet. 6G Base station will operate as radar. They are capable of sensing object movement & also do data transmission. Will provide faster response for autonomous driving & other latency-sensitive applications. It will allow management of drones, eVTOLs for low-altitude economy + unmanned vehicles in mountainous regions. This will help do traffic monitoring in places that traditionally don't have them. Especially for developing low altitude economy. It's impossible to thrive in that w/o having the base station or radar infrastructure for it.

China already has hydrogen-powered high-speed trains. The train can reach 250 km/h and travel over 1,000 km on a single tank, refueling in just 15 minutes and emitting only water. China steals what even the West doesn’t have.

No north Korean ever bombed Montreal. They didn't flatten our cities until only single story buildings remained nor did they use bioweapons against us. The pervasive underlying fascist belief is that its okay to kill millions of people if they're communist
Replying to @NigelCheriyan
I'll be honest: "North Korea good, Canada bad" was not a take I expected to hear today.

OOPS! Today’s Guardian newspaper has a headline about convicted criminal and sexual harasser Russell Brand, warning that “other abusers” are “still hiding in plain sight”. And just above it is a rambling article by convicted criminal and accused sexual harasser Nathan Law. Nathan Law was one of the western mainstream media’s most high-profile “rent-a-quote” protesters – but largely disappeared from sight after he was hit with accusations of sexual harassment in 2023. . SERIOUS ENOUGH While he was never charged in a court of law, the accusations were serious enough for him to be suspended from the Hong Kong Democracy Council—which investigated the charges, and then said bye-bye to him. (Despite the name of the group, this group does not promote Hong Kong or democracy but is a Washington-financed group working to demonize China.) In 2024, an investigative media group in the US called Notus found widespread cases of sexual harassment by prominent males in China demonization groups, particularly those focusing on pushing western narratives on “the death of Hong Kong” and the “Uyghur genocide” hoax. After the Nathan Law sexual harassment claims spread in 2023, “activists at several different organizations reconsidered inviting Law to events, chose not to post pictures with him and rewrote press releases about Hong Kong to minimize his footprint on them,” said Haley Byrd Wilt of Notus in a May 2024 report. . ONE OF MANY PROBLEMS The sexual harassment issue was just one problem. Law was part of a Hong Kong political movement that received vast amounts of financial and other support from the National Endowment for Democracy, a CIA soft power spin-off. This helped him to get into Hong Kong’s parliament, the Legislative Council – but he was soon expelled for misconduct. Then he and his associates were in 2017 were found guilty in what the city's Court of Appeal described as “a large-scale unlawful assembly, involving violence” in the Admiralty district of Hong Kong. The shocking attack in the peaceful, low-crime city, left 10 security guards injured, one seriously. Hong Kong’s British system courts are famously lenient, allowing for appeals. On the same week at the start of February 2018 that an appeals court finally confirmed that the evidence confirmed beyond the slightest doubt that Law and the others had committed a criminal act of violence, Senator Marco Rubio nominated the group for the Nobel Peace Prize. Which says it all. . INCREASINGLY UNPOPULAR Law became extremely unpopular in Hong Kong in 2019 when he called on US lawmakers to enact laws to enable America to revoke the city’s special trade status, directly hurting his community’s ability to continue to make a living. There was no way for Law to argue that a campaign to destroy the “one country two systems” policy was helping the people of Hong Kong. Also, the campaigner was eyed suspiciously by some of his fellow protesters, a number of whom liked to physically attack people from mainland China. Law toed the protester line—but he himself was a mainlander, having been born in Shenzhen and moving to Hong Kong at the age of six. . THEN HE FLED When Hong Kong finally passed a western-style security law in June 2020, forbidding political activists from taking cash from hostile foreign powers, Nathan Law decided it was time to flee. From the west, he denied having connections with western intelligence. “My colleagues and I have no connection to US intelligence and any sort of intelligence from around the world,” he said on television. At the time, a popular Twitter/ X commentator from Hubei agreed: “Indeed, he does seem to be innocent of a connection to any sort of intelligence.” His UK handlers quickly arranged for him to get political asylum in the UK. When former CIA director Mike Pompeo visited London on 21 July 2020, he summoned Law to meet him at the US embassy to thank him for his work against China. But with the new law in place in Hong Kong, the southern Chinese city could finally charge Nathan Law with collusion with external forces: an act which has long been criminal in all major western societies. While "five eyes" nations obediently follow the US narratives about China, other countries make decisions independently. In September of 2025, Nathan Law Kwun-chung was refused entry into Singapore. . ASSOCIATES FELT ABANDONED In Hong Kong, Law has been harshly criticized by his former associates on protester message boards. They felt the escapee now had a cushy number working with western political spinners, living in comfort and safely badmouthing Hong Kong from a distance (thanks, Guardian); while some of his former associates were languishing in jail. Law increased his unpopularity by working with Luke de Pulford, the UK-based anti-China campaigner financed by the US National Endowment for Democracy, to sue members of the Hong Kong police force who had British nationality, for doing their jobs. Even for Hong Kong and British critics of the police, this was considered a step too far. (The plot came to nothing.) . EVEN WESTERNERS Law was even mocked by westerners in Hong Kong when he took to referring to himself as an “exile”, a word that usually refers to someone ejected and barred from their homeland, not for a disliked, disloyal, criminal who chose to flee from justice. A group of British westerners in Hong Kong's financial scene told a local newspaper that in the wake of Law’s rebranding of himself, they no longer considered themselves “expats” but would henceforth prefer to be identified as “exiles” from “oppressed Knightsbridge”. . .

It’s good to see this news. We should never forget the martyrs of Ferguson or the veterans of that struggle still with us. Deandre Joshua, Darren Seals, Joshua Williams. Their names and stories should be taught to young people becoming politicized today. It is essential history.
Very excited to share with folks that Joshua Williams was finally freed today, and smiling ear-to-ear on a Group FaceTime chat after being released this afternoon and on a long ride back to St. Louis. Josh was a Ferguson political prisoner who was so so wronged, but that’s for another day. Today is a joyous day as Josh feels what freedom feels like and a real meal tastes like. #MikeBrown

This is only funny if you perceive the "Houthis" as a ragtag militia of cavemen, rather than the state that they are, where the people receiving and responding to shipping emails are regular suit-and-tie civil servants, waking up at 8 every morning to go to work
You have to email the Houthis if you want your ship to cross the Red Sea. They reply within 24hrs

I expect Qwen to top Chinese models when 4 gets released, but a good showing here by Tencent Hunyuan team. Looks like they are not Benchmaxing. Just trying to create the best work-based AI possible. ofc, they do release slowly, so they will be very far behind by the next time they release a model.
Hy4 by @TencentHunyuan is now officially the #1 best Chinese model in Agent Arena! With over 12K+ real-world, long-horizon agentic sessions from our global community of users, Hy4 has also placed Tencent Hunyuan as the only Chinese lab in the top 5. It is now showing +5.4% net improvement, and sits firmly on the Agent Arena Pareto frontier at a $0.57 median cost per task. Congrats again to the @TencentHunyuan team!

There is long term policy, it’s actually quite ingenious. The commanding heights of the economy are never on the ballot. You get bank bailouts under Bush, Obama, Trump, Biden. Voters let off steam every couple years then get demobilized as the frog is slowly boiled over decades
Actual results aside, it does not seem healthy for a country to swing to radically every two years. Horrendous for any long-term policy.
