This kind of mentality exists with fic because people can hide behind a keyboard. Would you go up to an artist at a vendor fair and tell them they suck? Should my kid go up to other kids at her dance competition and say they suck? No these things would be cruel and unacceptable

Yes. Writing (any kind of writing, fiction and nonfiction) is the only hobby I’ve ever had that I’ve ever really felt passionate about. I even enjoy legal writing and writing briefs, etc. is probably the only aspect of being a lawyer that I like.
