Just to double check your position @TimSweeneyEpic You are currently adjusting the EULA to give creators who use UE the ability to give permission to allow their games to be trained off. Thus permission being important factor in being trained on. But later you say that according to the court cases you’ve looked at, it is okay to train off anything as long as the output is different? Why change the EULA to be optional when training is allowed anyways?
Replying to @Kotaku
This conflates a number of different things. Here is a breakdown of the separate components of what is happening - - Does Epic let people use Fortnite IP without permission or compensation? No. - Does Epic restrict AI training on outputs of Unreal Engine and MetaHuman? Yes currently but we are working to remove this restriction from EULA terms, though each game using these tools is released under terms of the developers’ choosing which can allow or restrict AI training. - Do we allow training on content developed by others which we host in places such as Fab? This is up to each developer with the NoAI tag. - What does the law say on the copyright issues associated with training on content? The Anthropic court ruling found they were liable for copyright infringement when torrenting pirated content (as the article quotes me on), but they found that the training itself was fair use. Other courts have found that whether particular content produced by AI was infringing dependent on its similarity to the copyrighted work.

Here's a breakdown of the time and investment in Break and Steal Eggs, along with the additional investment we had planned before the game was removed from Discover tabs. - Sponsored row: $5,400 - Asset costs: $1,100 - Total spent: $6,500 - Time invested: 20 days of work (13 updates) Additional investment planned: $4,000 Throughout this period, we've done live events and boss fights, built an active community, and achieved strong metrics. We were committed to improving this game but discover completely kicked us out with no support. We also planned a streamer campaign to attract more players to our game and Fortnite. However, after the game was removed from Discover tabs, we decided to stop further investment and time. We are sharing our experience to show how challenging it has become to gain and maintain exposure in discover, even with consistent updates, investment, strong metrics, and an engaged community. We've concluded that it's more so of a luck based system rather than meeting expected metrics or we're not getting enough data. #UEFN

Great info! This reflects the current state of Fortnite development. Simulator games are more abundant, higher quality, and faster to develop than a year ago. Competition is tougher than ever, and it's only getting harder.

The crash in the game business nowadays is the first for the new generation of gamers, but only one of several in the history of games. Here are my thoughts from 2000 when a maker of beloved but long-unprofitable games went under.

The games we've long wanted, which didn't exist because they'd cost several times more to make than they'd earn back, will soon become possible. As will the games developers wanted to build, but couldn't with the resources available. It'll be a new golden age of gaming.

Back on September 20, we decided to disrupt the ramp games niche. We saw an opportunity to bring something new to the genre and raise the standards of the ecosystem once again. We introduced a new way of playing, with custom animations, models, rigs, unique sounds for each vehicle, and custom VFX coming soon. We built a proper roadmap around the project, with many new features that have never been seen in this niche and are still waiting to be released. We created a completely new nitro system, engagement pools, a vehicle garage, a new economy, and many other features designed from the ground up. But eventually, when new competitors enter a genre and start pushing its limits, someone at the top will feel threatened as their position begins to be challenged. Competition is healthy. It pushes creators to innovate, pushes UEFN forward, and ultimately gives Fortnite players more options and better experiences. Regarding your accusations: if you genuinely believe that any creator has copied, used, or distributed your assets without permission, you should contact Epic Games and file a proper DMCA claim, clearly identifying every asset, piece of IP, or copyrighted material you believe has been infringed. Otherwise, I can't take those accusations seriously. And since we're having this discussion publicly, I'll address your main arguments directly: 1. Title: It passes moderation (Eventually, a two word title will be displayed for search engine purposes). 2. Thumbnail: We're constantly working on new A/B thumbnail tests because we don't receive direct CTR feedback. We're already experimenting with different approaches, including realistic and AI-assisted thumbnails. In fact, we've already replaced the previous thumbnail because it wasn't performing as expected, and more new A/B tests are coming soon. 3. Gameplay Both experiences exist within the same ramp-game genre, so naturally there will be similarities inherent to that type of game as any other genre. What matters is the actual implementation. We've built our own systems, progression, economy, vehicle mechanics, nitro system, garage, engagement systems, custom assets, and roadmap around our own project. Calling the entire experience a “1:1 recreation” ignores those differences. We're completely open to fair competition and comparison. Players can play both experiences, look at the actual work, and make up their own minds.
An entire map copied, right down to an update I hadn’t even released yet. @FNCreate, this deserves a look. @coremaps @cortexmaps, care to explain this? You lost all my respect. From what I’ve compared, this is an almost 1:1 recreation of my ENTIRE map: the gameplay, the UI, practically the same title, and a 1:1 Thumbnail copy. They even recreated the new UI I previewed on Twitter BEFORE I’d released the update in my own map. Apparently my Twitter feed doubles as someone else’s development roadmap. 💀 1 / Left: My map — SUPER RAMP 2678-5257-1845 2 / Right: SUPER MEGA RAMP (Copy of mine) 8682-9942-9373 The UI and what I know about who made the models already made me suspect a connection. But I wanted something I could actually show, so I’m attaching the screenshots and recording below. The recording shows exactly what I found: FN360 lists “bots-royale” as the creator code and “Micky65T” as the creator. Searching that exact name brings up a post by @cortexmap, with “Micky65T” in the search snippet. Different publishing name, visible breadcrumbs. Nice try. If you’re going to pull something like this, at least don’t make it this obvious. If this was an attempt to hide your involvement behind an alt, leaving those details visible was quite the own goal. Going to Unreal Fest and publicly preaching respect for creators while copying someone else’s work behind the scenes would be embarrassing hypocrisy. It’s disappointing to share a community with people who do this. A different account name doesn’t make someone else’s work yours.

System too strict + AI mass thumbnail generation. makes it impossible to have different versions of a concept.

Almost $2.50 per 1,000 impressions 😭 Epic needs to make Sponsored Row recommendation-based ASAP... That way, there'd be more available spots, which would logically lead to lower costs and a better CTR

🔥 UEFN Python Verse Fields Tool is finally here! Direct Python Tool: github.com/supremeuefn/uefn-… Claude/Codex Skill: github.com/supremeuefn/uefn-… This tool lets you create, manage, and bind Verse fields, either individually or in batches, making UI workflows much faster and easier. I'd love for you to put it through its paces! If you have ideas for improvements, whether it's the UI, workflow, or anything else, feel free to leave feedback or open a PR on the repository. Current limitations: - Event bindings and event Verse fields are not supported. - Bindings that require conversion functions (such as ToVisibility, MakeBrush, etc.) are not supported. It really shines for Verse Field to Verse Field bindings. For example, if you have a slot widget with fields like Name and Image, and a parent widget containing 10 of those slots, you can quickly generate the corresponding fields in the parent widget and bind each slot's fields to them automatically. 🔥 If you have any questions, feel free to DM me or leave a comment below. I'd love to hear your feedback! 🙏 #UEFN #Python #Verse @FNCreate
A lot of people i think want to know now, how you can create verse fields with the help of python and also bind it. Just an heads up, This uses Claude, Codex or any AI you are using and we use an MCP server that sends Python commands to the editor to do stuff. I will try to make a tool version of it so you don't have to use any AI sub or something and just use the tool to quickly make a lot of variables and bind stuff. Stay Tuned! 🙌
