I started making my own granola. The stuff in the stores is sweetened beyond healthy and over priced. This batch would retail for $50, and cost me $3 to make.
I'm trying to figure out how much I spent on amazon in 2023. They don't seem to make that easy. Is there a better way?
I've published a new version of my GPT Summarizer plugin to the app store. It's a handy 1-click way to get summaries of any webpage while calling out helpful context and bias.
Updates:
- I rebuilt the UI with react instead of vanilla JS.
- It uses the mantine UI framework
- the prompt now spits out Markdown instead of html, which seems to work better for the summary display.
- DARK MODE 🚀

I had some fun last night going back and forth with GPT-4o with DALL-E image generation. You can now draw-in the areas you want to change and feed a prompt. Landed on this: An alien world above and below water.
Then I started refining bits and pieces of that concept: "Sun setting behind the island, more interesting ocean life, etc etc"
I built a GPT a few weeks ago to do translations: It works better than any other translator app with the least amount of friction. But OpenAI just released this demo with the latest version that makes it completely seamless! youtube.com/watch?v=WzUnEfiI…
It looks pretty useful for translating things you point your camera at as well: youtube.com/watch?v=eurVrO2i…
Link to my "Spanish Amigo" GPT, which will get a whole lot better with the latest app and you wont need the initial prompt explaining what you want it to do. chatgpt.com/g/g-BVlzyz8Jq-sp…
As an experiment I built a chrome plugin that uses the GPT-4 API to summarize content on your current webpage in one click. I also programmed it to call out biased or one sided views. It has come in pretty handy in bridging the gap between tl;dr and just scanning headlines.
I also open sourced the code if you want to look under the hood: github.com/coryshaw/summariz…
Currently it's a "bring your own OpenAI API key" plugin, but it's available on the chrome store if you want to give it a try: chromewebstore.google.com/de…
I used it to update my personal site "now" page thanks to a nudge by @sivers: coryshaw.com/now/
This also led me to update my open source Hugo theme a bit: github.com/coryshaw/hugo-aur…
