[...] We really cannot use the law to change the hearts of people who hate us."
The same way come together as a community to protect each other after anti-trans hate and violence, we must continue to work together to ensure disabled, ill, and viral-avoidant trans and queer people are welcome in our spaces. Even at an open-air rally, if comrades and allies are not wearing respirators, we cannot be safe there.
Keeping us safe requires us to prepare for what is to come and take steps to ensure our collective survival. We need to protect one another, including by wearing a high-quality respirator mask. ”

ALT A photo of a billboard from Not Recovered UK shows a child in a bed with Long COVID. The billboard reads, “Long COVID and ME/CFS destroy lives. No help. No treatments. No cure. We demand clinical trials now! http://www.notrecovereduk.org.” Black text on a white background reads, “THE SICK TIMES: Why are there almost no clinical trials for kids with Long COVID? By Simon Spichak.”

ALT Key points you should know: The only ongoing pediatric trial in the U.S. is testing a drug, called larazotide, aimed at tightening the gaps between cells in the gut to prevent coronavirus spike protein from leaking into circulation. Because of cost and age discrimination, companies often develop drugs in adults before testing new treatments in kids. The RECOVER initiative is ramping up to start clinical trials in kids soon, but parents and kids want to see more urgency. Involving parents and children with Long COVID throughout the clinical trial process is necessary to make trials more effective.
