🫓 For the next round of talks (Nov 11–14), chavista and opposition delegations agreed to:
▪️ Revise the Political Parties Act and address political disqualifications.
▪️ Reassess Maduro’s Liberator Law and a legal definition of “terrorism” used to target dissidents.

🫓 The US has welcomed progress on rebuilding Venezuela’s Supreme Court and, controversially, “advanced efforts to reform” the chavista Law Against Hatred.
The current proposal would replace prison sentences for “hate speech” with exorbitant fines👇 caracaschronicles.com/2026/1…

🫓 Grenell was once seen as a key figure regarding 🇻🇪🇺🇸 — Trump gave him special roles, which he used to travel to Caracas and pursue a transactional understanding with Maduro.

Replying to @marcorubio
@marcorubio portrayed 🇪🇸 as a model for 🇻🇪 — some caveats:
▪️ The government lacked control over the security apparatus, resulting in the 23-F coup.
▪️ In the absence of transitional justice, Zapatero pushed for polarizing memory politics in the 2000s. caracaschronicles.com/2026/1…

Replying to @ChiguireBipolar
@ChiguireBipolar first relied on parody to troll Chávez, borrowing his language and journalistic jargon to mock chavismo.
But Venezuelans grew exhausted with politics during the crisis. El Chigüire was forced to experiment with other kinds of humor👇

Our dear @ChiguireBipolar has been with us through almost everything, and like 🇻🇪 itself, its jokes have changed a lot since the Chávez days.
@plgraterol trained a machine-learning model to trace how our humor has evolved over time. Here’s what he found👇 caracaschronicles.com/2026/1…

What if Delcy Rodríguez doesn't need to become more popular to stay in power?
Venezuelans can still want her gone while becoming increasingly reluctant to risk the economic recovery they expect. And chavismo isn't the only one with reasons to delay elections.

This piece mentions some of the red lines that Francoist hardliners once tried to impose, including the exclusion of the most important oppo figure.
In our case, we're yet to see how many new “red lines” will be overcome or renegotiated. w/@AndreaMesaN: caracaschronicles.com/2026/1…

🫓 The ironies of the post-Maduro period: a day after Alex Saab’s partner enters US custody, the NYT profiles Turhan Mildon, who started doing business in 🇻🇪 after lobbying Saab and dating Remigio Ceballos’s daughter.

And that’s the big difference, political transitions are messy and complex. But there is no perfect timing, and the more elections are delayed the more the interim arrangement becomes likely to become permanent.
King Juan Carlos appointed Suárez in June 1976. The Law for Political Reform, meant to pave the way for a new democratic legislature, was through six months later. General elections were held within a year.
