A fascinating illusion. The effect is so strong, even without the guide dots the cylinder appears to rotate by itself:

Maybe. This is known as the 'Forbidden Experiment'

If someone grew up and was never taught about arrow symbols, would this optical illusion still work on them?

Painting of a pipe by Magritte. Handwritten text below the pipe reads 'Ceci une pipe.' A modern caption above reads 'Wait I could've sworn this wasn't a pipe'.

this is one of my favourite optical illusions. the arrangement tricks your eyes into not being able to see the letter "e", even though the original text is full of them. your brain straight-up replaces the words with ones made of other letters. you'll never see the real sentence
purple and black text on a green and white checkered background. the text and background are both distorted. the text reads: It was on our last trip as a full group that I finally had an opportunity to ask my family to snap a photo of all of us.

I wasn't going to put a '21 boxes' section in the book. But now it simply has to happen.

We do not post 'ragebait'. If you truly do not understand one of our illusions, please reply so we can help you or put you in our book. Thank you. 𓃰

Which way does the staircase go? In this famous 'Endless Staircase' optical illusion, it's impossible to tell if the stairs are ascending or descending, leaving the observer thoroughly perplexed.
