Incredible to see the news this morning that optogenetics has been recognized with the Nobel Prize. Such a powerful advance for neuroscience. As an engineer, I’m always proud to see the development of powerful tools recognized in addition to foundational discoveries.

The 2026 #NobelPrize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to Karl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann and Georg Nagel “for their discoveries concerning light-gated ion channels and optogenetics.”
