Dear @veve_official, I am heartbroken. I loved Ultra Rare Comics for two reasons- the BEAUTIFUL, VeVe-Exclusive artwork and the wonderful scarcity.
If Ultra Rare comics are turning into these gray, lifeless variants of recycled art, then you can take the whole rarity tier and eliminate it. I would feel so unlucky pulling any of these. Please make Ultra Rares GREAT AGAIN! 🙏

I think there is a ton of valid feedback to provide to both VeVe and ecomi about things that could be done differently or better to improve, and I would encourage anyone who has suggestions or ideas to pass them along to the respective companies.
Having been here since early 2021, I can say with confidence that the vast majority of the decisions that VeVe makes are driven directly by the feedback provided by their community.
Having worked for ecomi for the past 3 years, I can also say that decisions made for the token are driven primarily by community feedback and ideas.
All of that said, I don’t think we should conflate providing feedback with attempting to dictate or demand a direction, especially when the topic at hand has been publicly announced and is being built out as we speak.
If current users want to see the project succeed, I feel that spreading the good news to others who may not be aware of the fact that self custody is coming for VeVe would be a win all around.
I personally find it a bit misleading / disingenuous to be perpetuating a narrative that VeVe isn’t listening to their community and needs to do better when the fact that the feature is coming is in large part due to the fact that they have been listening.
TL:DR- Self custody is coming to VeVe.

Regardless of whether you’re a fan of VeVe or not, I think we can all agree on one thing: VeVe has proven to be remarkably resilient.
Think about how many companies in the digital collectibles space received massive hype, funding, and media attention, only to eventually fail, shut down, or require backing from other companies or private investors just to stay afloat.
Just to name a few:
1) HRO
2) Recur
3) Nifty Gateway
4) Nifty’s
5) Quidd
6) Palm/Candy
7) Cryptoys/Digitoys
8) Fanable
9) GameStop NFT
10) DraftKings Reignmakers
And this list could go on and on. That's without even getting into the countless 10K generative NFT projects that came and went.
Surviving in digital collectibles is not easy. The industry has gone through an enormous boom, a brutal downturn, the collapse of countless projects, massive changes in consumer sentiment, and the broader retreat from Web3.
Yet VeVe didn't just survive those cycles.
It kept building.
It kept signing new IPs.
It kept releasing products.
It kept investing in its platform.
It kept growing its team.
And most importantly, it kept showing up when so many of its competitors disappeared.
VeVe has grown its team by roughly 10x since launch and continues to expand its ecosystem. A future NASDAQ listing will be another major milestone.
After everything this industry has been through, you can't dismiss the significance of a company that has managed to endure while so many of its supposedly stronger competitors couldn't.
The digital is far superior. Which would you prefer?

VeVe has consistently invested in its community, year after year, for five years now. They have hosted multiple major events for collectors, sponsored local community meetups, given away prizes on a weekly—if not daily—basis, and even created an “afterlife,” aka the metaverse, giving collectors another way to experience and enjoy their digital collectibles.
VeVe did not have to do any of this. They could have simply sold digital collectibles and called it a day. Instead, they chose to invest in their community and create an ecosystem around the products.
I see people trying to compare Candy to VeVe because Candy bought out someone’s collection? I don’t think that’s remotely comparable. What VeVe has done for its community is far more meaningful than a single transaction. That transaction benefited one person in the Candy community. VeVe’s efforts have benefited an entire community of collectors.
VeVe’s co-founders traveled across the world to meet and engage with their fans in person. That’s how you build a real community—and ultimately, a lasting company. 💙
