Telegram has launched a pretty intense campaign to malign Signal as insecure, with assistance from Elon Musk. The goal seems to be to get activists to switch away from encrypted Signal to mostly-unencrypted Telegram. I want to talk about this a bit. 1/

Together with other 334 scientists and 24 ONGs, I have signed this letter eidas-open-letter.org/ asking the EU to reconsider their eIDAS regulation proposal. Why are we again raising our voices against new legislation?🧵

Today is a great day. After getting the right to vote in 1991, women from the Appenzell canton have done it again: in 2023, we have cheese for girls 🎀 🤦‍♀️

OMG our lattice-based multisignature paper is finally on ePrint: ia.cr/2022/1036 🥳 If you're interested, don't miss @akiratk0355's presentation at CRYPTO next week! Ow, you can find a high-level overview of its content in this thread ⬇️
OMG my paper "MuSig-L: Lattice-Based Multi-Signature With Single-Round Online Phase" has been accepted at CRYPTO 2022 🥳 This is joint work with two awesome ppl, @akiratk0355 and @mtibouchi. The title explains quite well what the paper contains: I will argue now why it's cool 😁

The Italian Crypto Association is organizing a PQC workshop in Oct in Trento (IT) 🤩 Check it out here: sites.google.com/unitn.it/pq… Submission deadline for a talk proposal (2-5pages) is August 19th. Trento is close to some of the prettiest mountains in the world, just sayin' 😉

Centuries ago, in Feb 2020, @claudiorlandi, Ivan, and I were wodering if one could impose a communication policy without having a trusted party sanitizing messages. Seems impossible, right? Turns out that sometimes seemingly-trivial questions can result in a SCN paper 🙂 🧵 1/4

...we can limit the bandwidth of the subliminal channel by adding public ciphertext verifiability 🤯 While this seems trivial, proving it requires a new def of obfuscation (somewhat equivalent to trusted hardware). Can we do without it? No clue. Surely iO is not enough. 3/4

This paper left us with many more questions! We will happily keep discussing them on the beach in Amalfi 😎 Anyway, my takeaway is that sometimes naïve questions can be insightful. And, that a visit to the crypto group in Aarhus is always worth it 😉 4/4

More good news everybody 🥳 I had the pleasure of writing a book with Arne Hansen and Stefan Wolf, and it's finally coming out: vdf.ch/discrete-mathematics.… The topic is Discrete Maths, which encompasses the basic maths needed in CS: set theory, logics, combinatorics and graphs 🤓

Ofc, the book only includes the basics of each subject: this is meant to help CS students that need all their maths in one place, well-explained, and with some funny exercises to keep them entertained while they read. And it includes an intro to crypto too 😍

Big thanks to our publisher @vdfVerlagETHZ for their help throughout the process, this has been quite the interesting adventure 📚 Also, thanks to @CoiteuxRoy for helping designing (and shooting) such an intriguing book cover 😉
