How to ride transit in Chicago. A 🧵
1. Mask up. It’s both better for your health and just practical. Right now it’s winter and it’s cold so it keeps you warm. It also helps mute the transit smells. You’ll thank me later.

I want to take the United States from car required to car optional. Living car free shouldn't be an impediment to obtaining and keeping a job, having access to fresh food or simply enjoying time with loved ones.
Uhhhh I may have accidentally picked a spot along the boulevard to picnic where there’s a crows nest… all my bird-loving friends…should I be concerned? Do I need to move? :/ #birds
Barbie Girl by Aqua is having a renaissance in wicker park right now. I heard at least two bars playing it tonight. #barbie
Chicagos summer music scene is one of my favorite things about living here. I spent Thursday at a @pitchforkfest pre-show with Grace Ives, Friday at the @SadSummerFest with @themaine, @MotionCityMusic, and #tbs and today I’ll be at @subtchicago for @ArrowsInAction #yay 🖤
Do we really have to rebrand and restart with every administration… is THAT really a good use of tax dollars?

ALT GRAPHIC ID: Today, the Illinois Supreme Court upheld the Pretrial Fairness Act, ensuring that a person's ability to pay cash bail does not unfairly dictate their presumption of innocence in the court system. Cash bail does not make communities safer, and it never has; it has simply exacerbated existing inequities and disparities in the criminal legal system. Pretrial detention, as a result of the inability to pay bail, further decimates communities that have long been most impacted by mass incarceration, and the destabilization of households and families. I am grateful that we can move forward to implement this legislation to uphold justice and equity.
Does anyone else read like three books at a time? I always need like a serious one, a fun one, and an urbanism-related one for my different moods haha
What’s the point parking regulations if we’re just going to allow a free-for-all anyway @ChicagoDOT ? A Sysco delivery truck has been sitting in the bike lane / bus stop causing traffic to go into the opposite lane just to pass it. This happens all the time at armitage/Milwaukee
