We say goodbye to another legend at 92 years old 🕊️ Emmy-winning Sesame Street producer Dulcy Singer has passed away at 92. Singer spent decades behind the scenes of Sesame Street and served as its executive producer from 1980 to 1993, overseeing the landmark children’s program during one of its most influential eras. Long before becoming executive producer, she produced the beloved 1978 special Christmas Eve on Sesame Street, which earned her and Jon Stone the Emmy for Outstanding Children’s Program. Her work later extended across hundreds of episodes and numerous specials featuring characters such as Big Bird, Oscar, Cookie Monster, Bert, Ernie, and the rest of the neighborhood. One of Singer’s most important contributions came when Sesame Street had to address the death of Mr. Hooper following actor Will Lee’s passing. Rather than simply writing the character out, Singer pushed the show to speak honestly to children about death. The resulting “Farewell, Mr. Hooper” episode became one of the most celebrated and remembered moments in the program’s history. Her name may have appeared behind the characters children loved, but the decisions she helped make shaped what Sesame Street became: a place where television could entertain children while trusting them with real lessons about life. Rest in peace, Dulcy Singer. Millions of children may never have known the woman behind Sesame Street, but generations grew up with the television she helped create 🕯️

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026) Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love. We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway. America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire. His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen. Ian McKellen 29 October 2026 Photo: University of Huddersfield

Chronic pain patients learn pretty quickly that there’s no correct way to look sick. Cry? Too emotional. Stay calm? Can’t be that bad. Get dressed? You look fine. Stop taking care of yourself? You’ve given up. Laugh for five minutes? Thought you were in pain. Know your own medical history? Drug-seeking. Don’t know every detail? Unreliable historian. The standard isn’t impossible by accident. We’ve built a system where the patient can do everything “right” and still be treated like their credibility is the symptom that needs managing.

Overheard Gen Z saying there’s no way undiagnosed ADHD adults just white-knuckled school with zero accommodations. Oh, kids. We didn’t just get through it. We built whole personalities around masking, got called “smart but lazy” by every teacher, and only learned the name for executive dysfunction in our thirties.
