Never really thought I'd be someone who would come close to a burnout. I've always been the type of person who just keeps going. There's work to be done, problems to solve, and things that need attention. But I guess there's a limit to everything. The past few months at my 9-5 have been pretty rough. A toxic work environment, difficult customers, constant pressure and negativity. It all starts adding up after a while. And the thing is, you don't necessarily notice it happening. You just keep going, telling yourself things will get better or that you just need to get through another busy week. But eventually you start noticing that you're not really yourself anymore. Things that normally wouldn't bother you suddenly do. You're mentally exhausted, and even when you're not working, your mind is still occupied with everything going on at work. And for someone like me, who genuinely enjoys spending his free time building apps and working on his own projects, that becomes even more frustrating. Because after a full day of dealing with stress, there's often very little energy left for the things you actually enjoy. Today I finally went to the doctor to talk about it. And it seems like taking some rest and getting away from the stress for a while might be a good idea. Not exactly something I expected to be writing about, but here we are. I think sometimes we get so used to pushing through everything that we forget we're not machines. There's always another email, another problem, another customer who needs something urgently. But your health shouldn't be the price you pay for keeping everyone else happy. So I guess it's time to slow down a little, get some rest and figure out how to move forward. Not the kind of progress update I usually share here, but I also think it's important to share the less enjoyable parts of life sometimes. Take care of yourselves, everyone. ☕

Good morning everyone! ☕️ What's everyone up to today? For me it's another busy day at the 9-5. Plenty of work to get through, but hopefully I'll have some time and energy left later to work on my own projects. Got a few things I'm really excited to get back to, but first I have to pay the bills somehow 😂 Anyway, coffee is ready. Time to get to work! Hope you all have a great day!

Just pushed Mimir 0.6.1! 🔧 This one is a small hotfix for the permissions system. You no longer have to approve every little thing your AI assistants want to do. You can now enable "Don't ask me first" for a bot and let it get on with its work. And if you click "Always" when approving an action, Mimir will actually remember that choice from now on I've also included a quick video showing how easy it is to set up bot with a routine in Mimir. More updates coming soon! heymimir.app

It's finally the weekend! No 9-5 for the next two days, so I've got some time to work on my own projects again. Got a few updates I want to finish, some things I want to experiment with and hopefully a bit of time to actually relax as well. Although knowing me, relaxing will probably involve opening my MacBook and doing some coding 😂 Anyway, hope you all have a great weekend! What's the plan? Building something, heading outside or enjoying some well-deserved time off?

Mimir 0.6.0 is out 🎉 💬 Channels • iMessage, in the Mac app: text, photos and voice notes in one Messages conversation you pick. It never reads any other • Add Mimir to your phone's home screen, full screen with its own icon • Telegram groups: a bot answers only when you @mention it, reply to it or send a /command 📎 Real files • "Send me the expense report as a spreadsheet" → an actual .xlsx, on every channel • Word and PDF too, with headings, lists and tables ⏱ Routines • A second look: on every confirmation, quote or invoice, it checks the dates, amounts and names. "Hotel says 12–14 Nov, your calendar says 13–15" • Started by a Slack message: "tell me when someone says it's deployed in #releases" • Started by GitHub: a new issue or PR on your repo kicks off a routine • Claude on Max or Team? Bots carry on with your plan's monthly API credits when the plan says no. Nothing gets billed 🧠 Memory • Memory as Markdown files: open it in Obsidian, grep it, keep it in git. Your edits come back as suggestions • Better recall: an exact match beats a newer near-miss, and preferences don't fade • Health, beliefs, politics and money stay out of memory unless you say "remember that…" 📥 Moving in • Import from Codex: its AGENTS.md and your skills, nothing live until you accept • OpenClaw and Hermes: every profile comes along, and SOUL.md becomes the bot's role in one click 👪 Family and guests • A daily allowance per person. Over it, they get a short note and you get "Allow more today" ✉️ Email • Bots sign "Sent by my assistant" when they write to someone new • Replies that get personal or ask you to commit to something come to you, not the bot 🔌 Tools • New in Browse: Box, HubSpot, Calendly, Cal . com, Excalidraw, Gamma, Mixpanel, PostHog, Amplitude • 6 new skills: Deep research, Chart check, Make it sound human, SEO check, Prompt polish, Landing page 🛡 Safety • Chat API tokens (Home Assistant and the like) can't read your email • Quiet checks can't be redirected onto your home network • Signal photos and files are deleted from signal-cli once Mimir has them 🔧 Fixes • Telegram tells you when a file is over 20 MB instead of going quiet • Answering an approval with a number on Signal or WhatsApp works after a restart • An imported skill no longer overwrites one you already have • "Just for you" on a memory every bot knows no longer hides it from the others • Grok and Claude bots: shorter waits, one process per reply Free for Mac, Windows and Linux. heymimir.app

Let's connect! ☕ I'm 41, from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 and spend most of my free time building apps alongside my 9-5. Big fan of tech, AI, open source, gaming, photography, way too much coffee and pretty much anything related to Thailand 🇹🇭 Currently working on a few apps, both commercial and open source, and sharing the journey here on X. Always looking to meet more indie hackers, developers, founders and people who just enjoy building cool shit. If that sounds like you, drop a comment and tell me what you're working on! Let's connect and support each other! 🚀 @X #letsconnect

So apparently Europe gets to wait a little longer for OpenAI's new AI agents 😂 Dots isn't available on ChatGPT Pro in the EU, UK or Switzerland yet. Meanwhile, I've been working on something similar with Mimir, and you can already use it today. The difference? You're not locked into one AI provider. You can use Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, OpenRouter or even run a local model. Want to switch your assistant to a different model? One click, and it keeps its memory. You can also set up routines by simply telling it what you want, like asking for a daily briefing every morning. And before it takes any important actions, it asks for your approval. No Mimir account needed either. Your data and memories stay on your own computer. Still plenty I want to improve and add, but I'm pretty happy with how Mimir is coming along! It's free and available for macOS, Windows and Linux. Curious what you'd want your own AI assistant to handle for you?
