Only thing AI is missing is 'verifying' the output of what it has produced. e2e tests help but there needs to be a system around it. Call it verification engineering, proof-driven-development, reliability layer or something else. But there needs to be a system for that

Everyone will move to E2E tests. At the current volume of code generated by agents, verification is the new bottleneck. And you can't do that by code review given the volume of PRs. Plug in some E2E tests and a mechanism to capture and share evidence and you're good to go.

The useful question about staging and production is what each environment is for, and whether your Playwright configuration reflects that purpose. Staging absorbs risk, so it takes anything that mutates state, fires real emails, or triggers a payment. Production validates that the live system works for real users, which keeps it to read-path flows and a small set of high-signal checks. Most suites blur the two and run one config against both. That’s how a green test ends up hiding a real production break. This article by @currents_dev turns that into a concrete framework: a decision table for placing any test, the configuration that should differ by environment, and the failure modes that show up when teams skip the distinction. How clearly are these two environments separated in your setup? Article link in the comments.

If your team has ever debated "should we mock this or hit the real API," the honest answer is that it depends on five things: - How critical the flow is. - The cost of getting it wrong. - Who controls the API. - Whether a formal contract exists. - What real testing actually costs you in time and quota. This article by @currents_dev breaks that decision down across a five-level spectrum, from no mocking at all to schema-validated and contract-tested mocks. It also covers parts like webhook testing, idempotency keys for real integration runs, and how to clean up sandbox data when ten parallel CI runs share the same Stripe test account. If you're making suite-wide decisions rather than writing one-off tests, this one is for you. Article link in the comments.

I took playwright-cli for a ride and shared my first impressions: - great addition to playwright ecosystem - be careful with token usage - it is not a replacement for traditional testing - great lightweight skills-baked alternative to MCP linkedin.com/pulse/playwrigh… #playwright

❌ Bad: focusing too much on test tools ✅ Good: write effective tests, understand your app, foster testing culture Tools help, but they're not the silver bullet. @agoldis from @sorrycypress and @currents_dev

Thanks a lot, @Nikolay_A00 for the opportunity to tell more about @currents_dev! We discussed popular #testautomation tools, troubleshooting failures, speeding up parallel CI executions, monitoring test performance - flakiness, duration and failure rates.

Great solution by @NxDevTools! @currents_dev used a similar approach to balance Cypress E2E CI tests. Today we do it for @playwrightweb, speeding up provider-agnostic CI runs 40%+. Also, we reroute tests between machines if needed - (e.g. spot instances termination)
NEW VID JUST RELEASED!! We love @Cypress_io & @playwrightweb and we got a feature you might like, removing the pain of running these e2e tests on CI! ✂️ automatically split e2e tests ❄️ including flakiness detection & re-running (link in reply below)

Some @Cypress_io users recently received an email titled “Continued support for recording to Sorry Cypress”, stating that Cypress limited ability to “exploit their private API and send recording to 3rd party services” like @sorrycypress and @currents_dev.
