My colleagues and I have two NSF-funded postdocs openings. They're at the intersections of computational social science, governance, social networks, and open source software:

Kindly spread the word.
BEYOND thrilled to announce that I will be joining @uwescience Institute as a data-intensive social scientist in Feb. My main remit will be helping faculty and grad students across campus incorporate large data and advanced methods. I can't wait to work on tons of cool research!
Changing topics for a postdoc makes publishing slow but super rewarding once it happens. Our 1st paper from a project started Feb 2021 was submitted today. 2 more later this summer. I know way more about the social system underlying Open-source software than I imagined
I got a standing desk on Monday and haven't sat down to work yet. Also convenient is that I can raise it high and tuck my chair under it at night, saving space in my WFH setup.
My favorite use of #ChatGPT so far: letters to politicians arguing against positions they hold in their own voice or voices of people they listen to.

I'm proud to have learned about the public good of open-source software, the common pool resource of developer effort, and the many ways of running a successful OSS project. If you have been part of an ASF Incubator project, we have a survey here: umassamherst.co1.qualtrics.c…
Can you predict an open source project’s success?
Using @ASFIncubator data, a team of researchers went looking for answers.

New type of data I'm working with: noisy, cyclical time series. Could use some pointers to good methods. I have data points arranged within projects, which are nested within organizations. I would like to learn about the cycles (e.g., differences in periodicity) & trends, & how
I would like to show how projects with similar outcomes (successful vs not) share characteristics of trend or cycles, & how those characteristics predict things like success while accounting for project and organizational structure. Finally, I would like to be able to
