being in both marching arts & adoptee twitter, i often struggle to find some kind of crossover discourse w/ both groups. only thing I can think of is a tech I had who used to use “you’re adopted” to members as an insult for errors 😶

I love to hear adopted people, especially transracial adopted people, speaking their truth.
Reminder for those of us not adopted or growing up black in white homes: To be good allies our first job is to listen and believe. Then we can understand.

Good for Colin. Adopting/purchasing a child of color does not make yt ppl immune to being racist.

auditionee sees vis staff drinking coffee, tries to guess what kind we’re drinking. looks @ mine, “hot coffee.” I ask “what’s in it”
“hmm…don’t take this the wrong way but u look like u put oat milk in ur coffee”
they were correct
finally got around to listening to the @adopteecrossing podcast and WOW. feels really good & validating to hear all these shared experiences re: adoption trauma and how society views adoption in general. thanks so much y’all for making these, can’t wait to keep listening 🖤

Today I remember the adoptees who aren’t here. The ones who lost their lives to despair. The ones whose trauma was too much to bear. The ones murdered or seriously emotionally harmed by their adopters. Trust me adoption isn’t the fairytale society portrays. #AdopteeRemembranceDay
