This is a thorough analysis of the existential threat to German democracy, a threat which is growing quickly and largely unchecked while the country hosts an excellent tournament.

I wrote that storyline. Everyone said there's no way the Baltimore Orioles and the Maryland Stadium Authority is going to let you film a murder at the tourist jewel that is Camden Yards. Watch and learn, I assured them. Meeting with Orioles and stadium officials goes like this: "Who gets murdered?" "A Yankee fan." "Who kills him?" "Another Yankee fan." Sold.

I’m reminded of the episode of Homicide: LOTS in which the detectives respond to a call of a murder victim at Camden Yards wearing a Yankee jersey, with 30k suspects and 8 innings to figure out which of them it was.

I’ve known I wanted to do this story since last Aug when I met 2 men in Georgia facing eviction from homes they once owned (yes. eviction. not foreclosure. That’s important). I pitched it on my first day at @NPR Today it hit the airwaves on Morning Edition npr.org/2024/06/13/nx-s1-485…

52 years ago today, a security guard noticed something amiss in the Watergate complex. It would be the first in a series of crimes and coverups that would end up taking down a U.S. president. washingtonpost.com/history/i…

Another day, another news story: vouchers mostly go to kids already in private school. The hit to state budgets and to public schools comes because taxpayers are now picking up the tab for choices previously made by the private sector statenews.org/section/the-oh…

I want to express my eternal gratitude to the Washington Post's departing editor in chief, @SallyBuzbee. While I was sick, she made sure I was taken care of, that I stayed employed and paid, made accommodations while I recovered. She also read and enjoyed my work, went out of her way to compliment my stories and made sure I felt like an important member of a world-class newsroom. For that, I'll always be grateful Sally. Thank you.

For 2 years, America has enjoyed robust growth with millions of jobs added, real wages rising, and inflation falling, but that's not what Americans believe The ⁦@GuardianUS⁩ found in a survey. Almost 60% believe we are in a recession, which is crazy, fact-free nonsense.
