I told one of the referees this because all these guys do it, all the on ball defenders now. What they do is they pick you up, and then they grab the arm you're not dribbling with and then they try to steal the ball from you. Famously Cason Wallace did it with TJ McConnell. That's just the NBA right now. It's really hard when you, when you play teams like this that are just fouling every possession. I thought we did enough to play through it, but a lot of those turnovers are just that, then you can point to some decision making, some passes, all that stuff. It's worth noting, though, that the way they played Kessler and respected him in general led to better rebounding for Utah.
It's also, of course, an effect of them having more overall size and strength down low but this game definitely did expose a weakness the Lakers have in terms of strength and size with rebounding.
This is where having Adou Thiero out really hurts because he has the strength and athleticism to compete on the rebounding front with the kind of bigs that Utah has and so many other teams in the league have.

Walker Kessler scored just 2 points, but his roll gravity drew Utah’s defense and created wide-open threes. The Lakers went 20/47 (43%) from deep.
I see a lot of lakers fans right now failing to understand that due to the Jazz deciding to stay home on Kessler it let Luka do his thing. Kessler didn’t play the best but the Jazz chose to let Luka score instead of Kessler
Lakers find themselves in quite the predicament. I believe a quality backup center will raise their floor but a starting wing will raise their celling. If they can only get one im leaning backup C but that probably places a ceiling on how far we can go.
People were crying saying they should have used the room MLE to sign a starting wing instead of sexton even though sexton was the best player in that price range AND the lakers signed the two best wing defenders in free agency who are making 9mil or less in ziaire and tisse
It’s an easy litmus test to see if someone knows ball or is just stupid. Realistically Luka is an average to slightly below average defender. And there are somethings he does elite on defense, rebounding and playing passing lanes for example. Someone like Brunson does fuck all
