Canada oil in numbers: 4.5M b/d exported, 3.9M b/d to the U.S. in mid-October, $20.75B of tracked Alberta grassroots projects, 1M b/d of Pacific Link capacity. Volumes are growing; the new market access is still on paper.
Can someone explain the logistics of Trumps 1 million bpd Venezuelan oil claim? That's about what Venezuela produces a month and US imports recently were around 510K bpd. Sure, a tanker can hold that much, but realistically? Was has he been saving it for a special occassion?
US federal data show Venezuelan imports averaged 571,000 bpd over the seven-day period ending Oct. 16. OPEC economists, meanwhile, put total production at around 1 million bpd. Of course, there's storage, but still..
"QatarEnergy has informed Edison that it will not be able to deliver an additional 6 LNG cargoes scheduled for the Adriatic LNG receiving terminal in Italy. This will effectively extend the overall force majeure period from beginning of April to early December 2026."
"These Defense Production Act funds will be used strategically and in partnership with private industry to rapidly bolster America's existing energy infrastructure," Energy Sec Chris Wright said last week.

Another way of interpreting this is that oil flows have increased *because* prices are high.
Producers can make money with Brent at $100+, while shippers are willing to take the chance with freight rates at historic levels.
Question then becomes how long demand is sustained at this level, and where the trade-offs come on the consumer side.
There is a fascinating tidbit in this story that takes some of the bloom off the rose.
Oil is flowing through the Gulf at pre-war levels, largely because the potential profits have increased (i.e., energy prices are higher).
Traders and shipowners are willing to take the risk of an Iranian attack because if they can make it through the Strait unmolested, a bigger payday awaits. But that also means there is no downward pressure on prices, because while oil is flowing, the transport costs are so much higher.
In short, until risk premiums fall—and ships don't have to worry about being attacked—oil prices will likely remain high.

Saudi Arabia is sustaining a very strong oil loading activity, per to @CopernicusEU Sentinel-2 imagery. Yesterday (Oct 15), it was loading 9 VLCCs plus another 2 Suezmax / Aframax with crude, for a total of >20 million barrels, from terminals in the Persian Gulf and Red Sea.
