ALT "Following our recent vigil on Belgrave Middleway where we remembered the tragic loss of life of pedestrians and cyclists on Birmingham's roads, Better Streets for Birmingham are deeply saddened by this tragic incident in Kings Heath this morning. We extend our thoughts and sympathies to all those who are affected. We understand two people, one of whom is a child, are now fighting for their lives. They were walking to school when they were run over. Better Streets for Birmingham stand with the public in sadness and anger. We state: Enough. Enough blood spilt on our streets by dangerous drivers. Enough of the constant threat to our safety when we walk, cycle, wheel or scoot. We demand better. Better behaviour from all of us behind the wheel. Better police enforcement of standards on our streets. And better safety protections for our most vulnerable road users. These changes will make our city a safer, happier and healthier place to be, and must be enacted now.”
