Today's show w/ Chris Finch
- What the summer has looked like for Finch and the Wolves as a team
- The addition of LaMelo Ball
- Anthony Edwards becoming a leader and moving back to shooting guard, "where he belongs"
- Coaching Rudy Gobert and the Wolves team trip to Paris this summer
- Finch on being an "outsider" as a coach and betting on yourself
"Him doing this so well is giving everybody else the freedom to be exactly who they want to be on the court.
"It's been an incredible fit through three games. And if this is who he is and what they get out of him all season, then grand slam. Not a home run. Grand slam."
- @JaceFrederick on Jonathan Kuminga
Today's show w/ @JaceFrederick
We each made lists of "things that have fueled the Wolves' hot start"
- The hunger they're playing with + Not having slow starts to games (5:00)
- Jonathan Kuminga as a super role player, Aaron Gordon-type (24:00)
- 3-point shooting + 3-point defense (33:00)
- The spacing that has come with LaMelo Ball (43:00)
- Ant's defensive effort (53:00)
- Ayo Dosunmu clicking as 6th man, bridging the Ant-LaMelo stagger (58:00)
Watching Cleveland play for the first time. Not really that big.
They stagger Allen and Mobley, so the majority of the game is almost like 1 big, 1 forward and kinda 3 guards. (And the forwards aren’t exactly gigantic — Watson, Hezonja, Tyson, Harden?)
I was thinking Cleveland tonight would be a test against size for Minnesota. But I think it’s more so going to be a test of their ability to defend the perimeter. And the first real chance for McDaniels and Kuminga to punish the undersized/weak defenders that will be hiding from Ant and LaMelo.

Anthony Edwards is listed as questionable for tonight’s game in Cleveland with “right knee injury maintenance”.

I'll be talkin Ant's 45-point opening night with @JonKrawczynski and @Gaardsy at 8am CST.

Asked Jaden McDaniels about how you don't get to choose where you're drafted, and why he's now twice chose to extend in Minnesota.
"Draft process I ain't know where I was going. This was actually the team I was trying to stay away from. So I came here not knowing how it was gonna be."
Did you want to stay away because they were bad at the time?
"Yeah they was just bad. They was bad as fuck."
Asked Jaden McDaniels about the Wolves shooting 50 3s on opening night
"To be honest, I didn't even know we shot 50 3s."
Told him Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball combined to shoot 30 of them.
"Oh shit. Shit, it worked. They was makin the shots. So I mean, can't be mad at it. That's what they was given. They take it."
Asked Chris Finch about the choice to stagger Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball's minutes on opening night.
"I'm still feelin my way through some of the rotation pieces. There's several things that go into it... We always have a blueprint, but we always leave ourselves the freedom to deviate off it."
Chris Finch on Jonathan Kuminga's opening night.
"Jonathan was phenomenal. In my mind, there was a lot of really good performances, but his sticks out."
The Wolves shot 50 3s on opening night -- 30 of the 50 came from Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball.
Asked Ant if he thinks the Wolves could be one of the highest volume 3-point shooting teams in the league.
"We shot 50 3s tonight?"
Seemed to me like a more intense and animated version of Anthony Edwards tonight. Asked him what was behind that.
"A player on they bench was talkin trash... He was talkin pretty crazy. And then when I started talkin to him he didn't really have too much more to say. And I don't really like that. Like, if you gonna talk shit, keep talkin shit. Don't get quiet."
