Hearing from several senators that this bill has been pulled pending technical changes + negotiations with the governor.
Assuming the Senate doesn’t schedule another session between now and Nov. 3, that means the bill won’t pass in time for this year’s elections.

A former aide alleges a NJ senator created a social equity workaround for weed dispensaries, recruiting minorities who owned them on paper but who were actually “disposable figureheads." It's a lawsuit. And he says he's got tapes.
State Sen. Raj Mukherji denies. "Salacious"
In a statement @DaleCaldwell says that his resignation "should not be interpreted as an admission of wrongdoing or acceptance of the report’s findings."

Sherrill's big consistency problem with Caldwell is that she was undoubtably aware of at least some of the allegations against him and still traveled out-of-state, leaving him as acting governor for 18 days. Now she says he must resign, and she's not traveling.

One notable thing so far about Caldwell reaction: Both NJ U.S. Senators have called on him to resign, but no comments yet from Assembly speaker and Senate prez. The latter actually could have a role to play in what happens to Caldwell.

The dam on Dale Caldwell is breaking pretty quickly. (One of the perils of being a political unknown whose main claim to fame is being the lieutenant gov of a governor who now wants you gone.)
Cory Booker says he should resign…
From tonight: Gov. Mikie Sherrill of New Jersey is calling on her handpicked lieutenant governor to resign after a monthslong, closely guarded internal investigationfound he made a comment that “constituted sexual harassment” and engaged in ethics violations.
As Assembly Dem calls on @DaleCaldwell to resign.
News: @GovSherrillNJ allowed her lieutenant governor to take on the full powers of the governorship for at least 18 days even after her administration commenced an internal investigation into his conduct, according to public records obtained by POLITICO.

🌹The DSA hasn’t been as prominent in NJ as in some other states, but the left-wing group has quietly made some major inroads.
I spoke with the state’s small cadre of dem. socialist electeds, including Assemblymembers Katie Brennan & Chigozie Onyema, about their vision for NJ.
Very interesting: @GovSherrillNJ is in California to talk to Dem House candidates in battleground districts, as per @PunchbowlNews.

We need to talk about Daniel's Law which, with the help of the public records restrictions NJ Dems passed a couple years ago, is starting to seriously hamper transparency in NJ.

This sucks for reporters. I've often used ELEC reports to reach candidates directly, especially low-profile ones who don't have staff.

Rep. Tom Kean Jr. says he has no involvement in any stock transactions, a policy he’s had since arriving in Congress.
That hasn’t muted Dem criticism of the trades made in his name, especially the ones made during his absence from Congress.

A judge tossed the Cherry Hill school district’s lawsuit targeting a guy accused of filing too many records requests. Judge says district failed to show "defendants filed their requests with the intent to disrupt agency operations." I wrote about it here

News: Phil Murphy’s gubernatorial portrait most expensive in state history at $135,000

Some history here: @GovChristie got national headlines when it was revealed his gov portrait was $85K in 2018 (which would be worth approximately $113,000 in 2026 when adjusting for inflation).
