Immigration attorneys carry the weight of others’ lives. I grew up watching it firsthand from my father...
The 4 a.m. calls with terrified clients before visa appointments.
Taking on pro bono cases when no one else would.
Suing the U.S. State Department to get people in—when they were already approved.
This is one of the highest-stakes, least recognized areas of law. Every case is someone’s life—their job, their family, their future.
That ends here.
🏆 Introducing The Immies — national awards honoring immigration attorneys who are actually moving the field forward.
10 categories.
2-minute nominations.
If someone just came to mind—nominate them.
⏰ Open until May 30

Consular processing for H-1Bs is back 💥
Finally some great news: we received approvals on our H-1B cases submitted through consular processing with NO $100,000 fee due.
After massive delays, immigration attorneys across the country are seeing approvals come through.
🔷 Employment-Based Immigration Weekly Policy Roundup 🔷
TLDR: A federal court blocked agency implementation of the $100K H-1B payment requirement last week, and two other H-1B items are moving.
📋 THE COURT ORDER
→ Sept 30: the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California blocked agency guidance implementing the $100K H-1B fee
→ It's reported as a preliminary injunction and is the second court to block implementation.
🟥 STILL PROPOSED
→ $103,265 fee on cap-subject H-1B petitions: proposed rule, comment period closed Sept 24. The comment period is over and we are waiting for the final rule.
→ Elimination of the 60-day grace period (RIN 1615-AD22, Docket USCIS-2026-0364): proposed. Covers H-1B, L-1, O-1, E, TN. Comments due Nov 10.
📅 WHAT'S NEXT
→ Sept 18 executive order directs added coordination on H-1B scrutiny, with a DOL Wage and Hour review of labor condition application data to begin within 30 days (around Oct 18).
@elonmusk @hamdiulukaya @apoorva_mehta @stevechen @NoubarAfeyan @istoica05 @SebastianThrun @geoajeet @rihanna @MarieKondo Who were your immigration attorneys? They deserve some recognition.
After 3 recent webinars with top U.S. immigration attorneys about the upcoming H-1B lottery, here are the factors companies should be thinking about:
1️⃣ This is a strong year to enter talent into the lottery.
Some estimates say up to 50%, others 10–20% — largely due to the $100K fee for talent abroad.
That could mean the highest selection rates in a decade for change-of-status cases (foreign nationals already in the U.S.).
(Insight from @GreenAndSpiegel )
2️⃣ The $100K fee may not last
Two active court cases could overturn the proclamation as early as March.
Many companies are still registering talent abroad so they can file if the courts rule against the fee.
(Insight from Jesse Bless)
3️⃣ The weighted lottery changes strategy
Companies can think more creatively about specialty occupation categories.
Some categories have lower prevailing wage bands, allowing sponsorship in higher bands without increasing salary.

The chaos and cruelty of Trump and Noem’s policy are endangering veterans and American citizens.
Last week in SF, I moderated a panel on navigating immigration challenges for founders.
One takeaway stood above the rest:
Immigration should not drive your business decisions.
Nitin from @UnshackledVC advised not to fundraise just to get O-1 evidence. Bootstrap if you can. Build and then find the immigration solution that works.
I've been building a remote team for 5 years. I only hire doers, creators, and self-motivated humans.
Both Danila and Ian are founders themselves. Their owner mindset makes them successful all the way from Argentina & Michigan!
But nothing beats getting together in person.

🚨I PRESSED President Trump on H-1B visas.🚨
“If you want to RAISE WAGES for Americans, you can’t flood the country with THOUSANDS of foreign workers.”
@POTUS: “You have to bring in talent… You can’t take people off the unemployment line and say, ‘go make missiles.’”
The debate continues.
70% of the top U.S. AI startups backed by venture capital have an immigrant co-founder who first came to the U.S. as an international student.
We cannot afford to lose this talent. America will fall behind.
@elonmusk got this. Does Trump?

Did anyone see this shift coming?@realDonaldTrump in an interview with @IngrahamAngle says the U.S. doesn’t “have certain talents” and we must bring in foreign skilled workers via H-1B.

“Does capitalism need cool girls?”
Yes @nytimes
It needs women who dream big, bet on themselves, lift others, and build things that didn’t exist before.
Capitalism is for the girls who choose action over outrage.

Grateful to build this movement with @erica_wenger - because we know as business owners that women also need capitalism. We rise by building, owning, hiring, innovating, and earning our way into places where decisions are made.
Not by depending on anyone or any government.

BREAKING: Cuomo holds significantly more support inside of NYC than Mamdani, per Kalshi data.

We had an extremely packed house (500+ RSVPs) for tonight’s “Cool Girls for Capitalism” event in support of Cuomo for mayor. The whole event came together in less than 1 week
I don’t support antisemitism or socialism so that makes my vote easy! Save NYC! 🗽
