However, there is a enormous blind site that cultural westerners have when it comes to dealing with India. And it is very much the same as they have when dealing with islamists or when dealing with Africans.
These countries and their societies are fundamentally different to us and how they treat their poor. They are fundamentally different to us in how they see wealth.
They are fundamentally different to us in how social order is defined, passed on, and obeyed.
In Indian culture an Indian society, it is seen as nearly disgusting to treat those beneath you with any amount of care. In fact, the only righteous and well-behaved thing to do as a higher case Indian when faced with a low-cased Indian is to abuse them to treat them poorly and to deprive them of everything you can deprive them of. This is because they see those less fortunate than them as having committed great offenses in their past life. The reincarnation cycle of Hinduism puts murderers and rapists and scammers and thieves at the bottom rung just before they become an insect. So an Indian will see those who are less privileged and out of a self-righteous concept of taste hierarchy believe that it is their duty to abuse them because the more abuse they can impart onto the less fortunate, the better life that less fortunate person will have once they die.
And if you live your life like you are not one of the less fortunate you are actually rewarded. If you are in fact at the bottom rung of society, you must live as if you are at the top. Because how you live determines how well you reincarnate..

They learn to mimic. This is a core component of their culture. For thousands of years. The Hindu people were slaves to other nations. Their culture developed a mindset, a survival mechanism, and the peoples themselves because of their rigid taste system persisted the neurological and genetic disposition to do exactly what they do today.
Just as we cannot turn off our sympathy and empathy for the poor because of centuries of Christianity, they cannot turn off their abuse and hatred of the poor.
This is why they scam they cheat. This is why they have call centers dedicated to finding AARP subscriber, phone numbers and scamming them. The most vulnerable in our society must be scammed because by scamming us, they prove their own superiority and improving their superiority. The Indian is able to secure a better reincarnation.
And even if they are atheist and do not believe in reincarnation, the concept of abusing those beneath you as a good theme is so intrinsically tied to their behavior, patterns and beliefs that it is simply as obvious to them as treating animals well is to us.
Westerners simply cannot understand how different they are at a fundamental level. Their children do not treat animals well, not because their parents told them to abuse animals but because everything in their society is built around abuse extraction, manipulation and deception.
How can such a place ever be lifted out of poverty despite having a billion and a half people? How are they? So poor that even their richest are a pale fraction of our richest. We have wealthy men who exclusively sell within our country who are wealthier than global super Giants operating out of India like Mahindra or Tata.
This is because the Indian market is worthless.
Indian companies sell to everyone in the world but not to India.
They sell to everyone because the Indian market is worthless. But we have politicians who believe and project onto others out of a sense of naive Goodwill. The same values they would project onto us the Protestant Western man.
They believe the Indians and us share the same values
We don't. We never will. We are fundamentally incompatible..
And this is why the leaders of the country's that we do business with are all educated in the west. They have all been taught to observe and to learn our ways and then use them against us.

Even for hard drugs, the solution is monitoring, tracking and, if it ever rises to criminal conduct, severe punishment for the actual crimes against others, not the substance itself.
People dealing in illicit amphetamines, opioids, or other narcotics should face the most extreme punishment law provides. But otherwise use of any mind-altering substance of any kind should carry the same stipulations as any other form of public intoxication.
Driving while on a mind altering drug should have your license revoked until you complete a treatment program.
Using heavy equipment or dangerous tools such as firearms should similarly face the same punishment as if it was being done recklessly using any other intoxicant.
But the manufacturer and distribution sale and coercion to use and distribute illicit narcotics should be a capital offense.
I have had friends lives be destroyed by these drugs but it was their choice to destroy their own lives and they committed no other underlying crime.
