This is the worst land use proposal I've ever seen in the UK. @ecotricity wants to use 6 million hectares of land here for biogas made from grass. That's bigger than the UK's entire arable area. The ecological and carbon opportunity costs are astronomical. ecotricity.co.uk/our-green-e…

It’s almost like they’ve deliberately come up with the worst possible windfall tax, forcing the opposition to keep the conversation focused on the tax and not partygate, and enabling them to say things like “but you’re the ones who wanted a windfall tax!” ( cc @mrjamesob )
Greens have long called for a #DirtyProfitsTax on the most polluting industries.
The Tory version of a #WindfallTax though is taking from the fossil fuel companies with one hand but giving it back with the other by rewarding more oil & gas investment 🤦♀️
